Never really did much there except browse the auctions when I was younger and look at what stuff people were selling.

It was so long ago that I can't remember the actual ebay account set up process, but I don't recall it being particularly onerous.  The trick with ebay is to stick to sellers with at least a 96% positive rating and several hundred transactions under their belts.* Stick to that rule and ebay is a pretty reliable way to buy things.

The first one NT2C linked to is already sold so I can't see their rating, but the second one is from a seller with a 99.9% seller rating and 4865 transactions.  Bear in mind you're buying a used item and sellers generally don't have a way to test them.  But the good sellers are very protective of their stellar ebay ratings and will work to make their buyers happy if the product is a dud.

*the exception is truly unique items sold by people who aren't selling things on ebay as a full time business.  Know what you're looking for, ask questions up front and you takes your chances.

Got it. I'm going to check the fuses as well and see if that's the issue.

I did have an issue with the windshield leaking when I first got the truck, so it's possible a fuse got water damaged. Probably won't hurt to check that anyway.

Even Amazon has the cheap chinese parts. Got a power window switch for the Xterra. To put the window up you press down lol it's opposite of what its supposed to do.

I recently ordered a passenger side mirror for a Scion xB off ebay for a friend whose student driver teen son tore it off backing out of their garage. I have no idea of its provenance and it didn't have any branding. The only thing I'm sure of is it wasn't authentic Toyota OEM. It was both a powered mirror and built in turn signal. I must admit it was about the easiest car repair job I've ever done - plug and play.  My point being that ebay can be a reliable source of auto parts.

The part was $50. I wonder how much I saved him versus having it done at the dealer? Let's just say that family needs all the help they can get with hubby on permanent SSDI and the wife working in a marginal social service type job trying to balance the household budget. All that with one kid in college and the attention deficit student driver son unlikely to be ready for independent adult life any time soon, if ever.

In hindsight, I shoulda posted about it in the EDC Day of Victory thread. 

Renewed our roadside assistance plans on both vehicles for another 5 years.  This includes unlimited towing and tire & wheel road hazard coverage that includes replacement.  A careful reading of the plan seems to make me think it would also cover tires and wheels while on certain trails, such as out at Moab, if the road is maintained "by state or local authority".

OT: 4 new tires on Oreo today.

Purchased a new dashcam for it.  Essentially, it's the same as the one that failed, just updated with better night vision.



The company worked with me to determine that the problem was with the camera, not any of the microSD cards I used, but the camera was 2 months past the 18-month warranty, so they offered me an $80 rebate on the upgraded model.  I just bought the new one (will be here by 11 AM tomorrow), and this time I added a 3-year protection plan to it from Asurion.  This way, it's almost double the regular warranty, covers almost any failure except abuse, and is less time-consuming to deal with.  (The manufacturer is in China, and customer service is via email overnight, so a back-and-forth exchange of messages can take several days)

I ran over a toolbox (or some kind of metal box) on the interstate with my C8. This is the greatest of tragedies, only slightly remediated by the fact that all damage was underneath. 

Still, I was forced to drop it off at the shop and it will also need a new set of rear tires.
