Speaking of fire extinguisher mishaps.
A number of years ago, I had one in my Jeep TJ, on the back seat floor mounted under the passenger seat.  In the exiting, entering, sitting of small children and adults buckling them in, it must have come loose and one time upon rolling the passenger seat forward it caught the pin and whoooosh!!!
So I did what any normal person would do, dropped the top and drove at high speed to blow all the dust out  :smiley_blink:
Then went back to get the passengers.

Mike Finnegan (best known from the Roadkill show) recently bought an old FBI motorhome, which some other YouTubers road-tripped back from the purchase location for him.  During the trip, the crappy old fire extinguisher that was behind the front seats went off and left the people driving it with some yummy fire extinguisher dust to inhale / taste until they could clean it up!   :smiley_sick:

Many years ago, I lived in a third-floor walk-up apartment in Brooklyn, across from a vacant lot. One day they decided to build a large 12-pump gas station on it, and as it went together, they eventually got around to installing the overhead fire suppression system.  During the install, something went awry, and one tank (one per pump) of the dry chem powder discharged, so I knew what it sounded like.

A few weeks later, after the station opened (right at the start of the Oil Crisis of the 1970s) I was in the shower after a long night of stalking celebs at the various NYC clubs (I was working as a paparazzi) when I heard the full system start to go off.  I dashed out of the shower, wet and soapy, grabbed my trusty Canon TX with motorized winder and 70-200 zoom lens, and ran to my front windows and started taking pictures of the absolute chaos unfolding.  This was at a major Brooklyn intersection, and it was now enveloped in this cloud of powder, with the actual pump area looking like it was covered with snow.  People were wandering around, white from head to toe, except for their mouths and eye sockets; car interiors were devastated.  And wayyy out by the main road was a car with a very minor engine fire just starting (caused, I found out later, by one of my idiot druggie friends telling the owner to pour ATF down his carburator while the engine was running and backfiring through the carb).  Someone in the station booth had panicked and hit the "Fire" button to call the fire department (who showed up in about two minutes, being located just down the street).  Took them a week to clean the station, tow away cars that were undrivable, recharge the system, and then reopen the station.

Quote from: majorhavoc on April 06, 2026, 03:44:10 PMIs it still usable?

yes, that bit holder you see in the photo is really stuck in there though, and pulling on it cracked the grey plastic. It reminds me of those old plastic tackle boxes that if you put one of those new [at the time] plastic worms directly on the plastic it melted thru like Alien acid blood spilled on it. Some sort of chemical reaction going on I think.

Quote from: EBuff75 on April 06, 2026, 04:22:47 PMI remember finding out that the aerosol-type fire spray bottle (like this one) in my trunk had lost the cap and leaked out into the cargo tray under the floor.

[...] Also, those aerosol sprays aren't great in cold temps, like we get here in Michigan, or high temps like can happen in a closed vehicle in the summer.

I have never really had good luck with long term storage of aerosols in my cars. So I just gave up on that. I live in South Florida and the summer heat and sun here get the trunk and inside of the cars really hot.

@NT2C did you make any money off those shots you got?

Does buying a new (to me) bug out vehicle count?
1998 Suzuki Sidekick 4dr (base)
1.6 SOHC, 5spd Manual, RWD, @170K miles showing,
It was a Tow behind for an RV so actual driveline miles are much lower.
So far...
I've made an electrical connector for the Intake air temp sensor,
spliced the wiring for the MAF (Thanks Pack Rats!), and reattached the EGR valve.
So that's it running correctly...
Now I'm also installing a Robyn SX-101 (23channel) CB, and magnet mount Antenna..
I'm working out where to mount a "fire stick" so the magnet mount is temporary.
And trying to figure out which tires to get.
Pics are from the offerup ad which I bought her from, I'll take fresh pics soon.

I finally pulled out the headliner and recovered it. while it was out I drilled out the spot welds that held the bracken overhead consoles mount too then put two layers of the rubberish sound deadening then one layer of foam with silver faced sound/heat insulation then put the overhead console mount back in. Truck is a bit quieter now.

I thought for once I'd buy a secure bike lock since I had a gift card anyway. That thing weighs more than my entire unicycle. :gonk:

I have an easy solution for you: use that lock on a 62lb full folding frame fat tire ebike like my Wallke X3 and that weight won't seem so out of proportion.  :smiley_crocodile:

What lock did you get?  I have the Kryptonite Keeper folding lock.  It weighs 2 lbs.
