...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM CDT FOR EAST
CENTRAL GEARY AND SOUTHWESTERN WABAUNSEE COUNTIES...

At 754 PM CDT, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was
located near Volland, moving north at 30 mph.

This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Law enforcement confirmed tornado. At 7:38pm, law
         enforcement reported a tornado 3 miles southwest of Volland.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may
         be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes
         will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes,
         businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction
         is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Volland.

I saw 73F here in Michigan today. 

And tonight our CERT went to get Skywarn training.  A few people in our group had been through it before, but it was new for me.  Not a whole lot to it, just some basic "this is what we want to hear about and this is what we don't" followed by various ways to get in touch with the local office.

In the middle of a two-day snow storm projected to drop 18"-36".

I got 17" outside right now and 24 hours left, kind of awesome. The Californians COLORADO NATIVES are either melting down or telling people that NOAA travel warnings are bogus and they should just drive their Miata with bald tires to work, no in-betweens.

"Gorilla Hail". That's a new one for me. But I'm sure the news media loves it for their continuous efforts to overdramatize weather in order to boost ratings/mouse clicks/ad revenue. 

Myself, I no longer pay attention to any weather forecast unless it involves a polar votex redirecting an atmospheric river to deliver a bomb cyclone over my area with Gorilla Hail as a prelude to snowmageddon. And then only if a TV reporter is shown standing in the middle of it to prove that yes, the wind is indeed blowing.

That way I'll know when to put the top up on my bald-tired Miata before heading over that mountain pass. I mean, I wouldn't want my Hawaiian shirt and flip flops to get wet.

If I had a punk band, I think I'd name it Gorilla Hail. 

Who comes up with this stuff? Anyone else miss the days when we'd just compare hail to fruit and be done with it?

National Weather Service Skywarn Spotters are required to report hail size as it relates to United States currency.  As a trained, Advanced Skywarn Spotter with more than a decade of experience I,m going to say that I'd have to report that as "tree-fiddy size hail".

People in Cali Rock are dangerous to be on the road with, period. The weather isn't the problem. It's them. I had the same woman talking on her phone try to merge into me TWICE last week.

She wasn't in a Miata. She was in a Lexus.

We seem to be accumulating again, we might actually get over two feet. Work truck got stuck real good trying to climb a hill in our neighborhood earlier today... I think it might still be out there lol... I'm sure the main roads down in town will be fine by dinner tomorrow. But so what, we ain't got nowhere to go anyhow.

On the plus side I might go snowshoe for a while after the kids are asleep, there's a trail up the road a ways.

99 deg f several days in a row. I love my swamp cooler.

Past week it has been in high 80s, low 90s with miserable humidity.

It's been in the low 90s here this week and very humid.  A friend is moving into an apartment on Monday and he said that the first thing he's buying after getting moved in is a window air conditioner unit!  I'm looking forward to later this week after the predicted mid-week storm system blows through, as the highs are supposed to drop down to around 78-80F at that point.
