A couple hours ago, it was 82F with 93% humidity outside.  Right now, it is showing 69F and 96% humidity outside.  Wind speed goes up to 1mph and back to 0.

Glendale, AZ. It was 115F today when I did my shopping (instantly regretted it). Even with the AC running, it was 81F inside my apartment most of the day. Overnight lows this summer have rarely dipped under 90F, which is nuts considering it was regularly in the 70s overnight when I was a kid in Phoenix in the 90s.

Southern MS/LA is always hot in August. This year is no exception. However unlike last year there is no drought and the PM showers are keeping things muggy but in the low 90's and not the 100's like last year.

It's weirdly nice out here.  Mid/lated August, but not even into the 80s when we would typically be in the 100s.  This is so darn weird.  It's like we had August in June and now August is September/October. 

Anyway, was able to get some yard work done without much risk of passing out (if I get hot enough to sweat, my body has a vasovagal response and I pass out; on doc's orders, I'm not allowed outside in the summer).

It's been around 70F here the last few days, which is just fine with me!  The temps are supposed to go back up into the upper 80s this weekend and into early next week, but at least for right now it's very pleasant.

We are are having a weirdly mild run this week, no storms or rain predicted. Temps for the week is a high of 88 , but the few days before that are mid 70's. I can't remember an August that had around a week this mild.

Meanwhile in my part of Texas, it's pushing 100 plus. Today it's around 100F, but tomorrow and Thursday it's supposed to be 104F.

So I'll be doing the bare minimum outdoors then and staying in the AC until Friday.

It works pretty good. Kind of struggles a little, but it's probably used to Virigina heat and not Seventh Level of Hell heat like out here.

62 deg F as of 10:00pm here in southern Maine.  Temps supposed to get down to the low 50s overnight.  More than a whiff of fall in the air.  Delightful sleeping weather.

Fortunately, the temps have dropped a bit here and are now around 69F.  Of course, the reason they dropped is that a fairly powerful squall line went through early this evening, including 70mph straight line winds. 

And why is it "fortunate" that the temps dropped?  Well, that would be due to the 200k people who have lost power as a result of the storm...  Mine is half-off right now, with just one leg working and thus only one side of my panel.  Since the furnace/blower is on one side (the one with power) and the a/c is on the other (no power), there's no way to have the air working when the power is half-out like this.  

Because it's an older house, there's not much rhyme or reason to what has power and what doesn't with an outage like this.  Most (but not all) of the outlets on the first floor are working, while most (but not all) of the lights were out.  On the 2nd floor it's reversed, with all of the lights working, but only one outlet!  Fortunately, the one working outlet is in my office, so I've got an extension cord running over to my computer and to the router / modem.  The clock, fan, and BT speaker in my bedroom are all without power right now, but I might just plug those into one of my power stations to keep them running overnight. 

Oh, and of course, both the fridge and the chest freezer were on outlets which lost power.  Fortunately, both of them were near other outlets that were working, so I just put them each on an extension cord to keep them running.  They're both Energy Star appliances, which means there's no issue with having them on an extension cord, as they hardly pull any power. 

I'm okay with 69-70F, which isn't bad at all.  I'll probably still run a fan tonight though, since the humidity is quite high as a result of all the rain (don't really want to open the window and let that humidity inside).  And the 2nd floor (where my bedroom is) is still in the upper-70s due to the outdoor temps being in the mid-90s earlier today.  *ick* 

At least the cold shower this evening felt great!

I'm alright with this so long as the flooding in parts of my town don't get any worse.

Nothing I can do about the morons getting stuck in flooded spots or driving stupidly, though.

I guess you know you're a Floridian when you go outside at 1pm and its full Florida sun out and you think it feels cool out today. When you get in your car the thermometer says 92, but you think 'at least its not 97' and must be low humidity for it to feel so mild out.

Run to the bank and HomeDepot with your windows down and check your weather app to see why it feels so nice, and then realize its saying its 67% humidity and feels like 98 degrees.

Hope its nice like this tomorrow when I'm doing the yard.
