The fact that folks are targeting these power stations doesn't seem all that new to me.

I remember growing up in the 90s and hearing about how certain groups would target infrastructure like this to prove a point.

Sometimes it was some radicalized environmentalists that wanted to knock out power stations to protest whatever they felt like and other times it was simply drunk morons who figured a power station would make a great target for their new gun.

Then you'd have the occasional drunk morons who'd climb the fence around a rural substation, try to climb the electrical boxes and end up getting fried beyond recognition.

Deliberately targeting power stations just seems like a dick move to me no matter the reasoning behind it. I don't care if you're protesting story time with Rupaul or Ted Nugent or trying to protest fossil fuel use, don't be a dick and knock out power for 40K + people because you want to be a judgemental asshat.

Western Washington University (WWU) now offers racially segregated dorms.

About two years ago several people were arrested for trying to sabotage rail lines most commonly used by oil trains to cause a derailment near that university. I think I posted about it in the old board.

I'm honestly surprised people haven't already shot up substations in my area. Just two(ish) years ago we watched over 100 days straight of arson and IED attacks on government buildings in Portland and Seattle.

BTW the perps in this case did not shoot the power substation. They went in and physically attacked it. They wanted the power shut off for a burglary. It is a shame they did not try being a human circuit breaker.
