It does not matter what their grief is...race, religion, age, you name it, they are angry at something or someone. One woman recently came in and demanded a cup of coffee and food because it was OWED to her because the cashier had a job she was OBLIGATED to support her. When free stuff was not given to her, she went outside and busted the windows on the cashiers vehicle. (I was not yet hired, this was about 2 months ago...also, the judge fined the woman and we see her walking past the store every day. She's homeless, so the fine will never be paid, I guess)

As for the young man in the Buffalo shooting....indeed, evil walks among us. What made him so evil and angry that he would do this? The internet, 4chan, school, tv, his parents...?

Indeed evil does walk among us along with the mentally ill and the angry.

The scumbag shooter is likely mentally ill but he is also guided by evil. This evil seeks chaos, destruction and likely feeds on misery, pain and anger.  There is no good way to prevent this type of evil doing their nastiness. The best you can do is ID it at a distance and avoid it.

I am afraid that other suggestions to ensure avoidance will run afoul of our board restrictions.

That said the likelihood of running into such a situation is remote. The strategy of Run, Hide and Fight is about the best thing you can do ... that and have a CCW.

This type of situation was avoided here because of the Fight portion of this doctrine. BTW same day if I am not mistaken.

I did not know what mechanism ny used to make ar's legal. Now I know. I'm in cali. Both these states laws are completely stupid. They restrict no one except the law abiding. Thanks for clearling this up lamby.

Not trying to further derail the thread. But juat wanted to express my agreement about not being able to go home.

Our plan for many years has been to return to my home state of WA. But real estate prices and more insane gun laws have changed my mind. I never wanted to live anywhere near the city where crime and homelessness now abounds.

Real estate prices even an hour and a half up into the mountains from Seattle have gotten insane. What once was a place, not many years ago, where you could find a nice older home for less than 200k. They are now selling 1940s era crap houses in town, on a small lot, for upwards of half a million.

I don't know all the gun laws. But you can no longer buy an ar receiver without first taking some test or course. High cap mags are also banned. And i think its only time before the entire state will be over run by cali style laws.

Only a small section of the state makes all the laws. As the population center is in Seattle. WA is a large state. Split by a mountain range. Seattle being on the westside. Few areas on either side believe in gun control. And the entire eastside is ready to secede.

I don't know how to solve this. But inner cities have far different concerns than rural areas. But in a democratic society we vote on things. I just don't understand why counties can't make their own laws. But anyway.

We are no longer moving to WA. MT looks like a far better choice. The funny thing is I'm very liberal. Except for gun control. It sucks that I will have to live in a state where the majority of people have far different religious and politcal ideals than I do. But thats the way it goes now days.

I've struggled to verbalize  a reply to this that won't smash the non political rules of the board. But I got nothing. The best I can come up with is I hope you one day have an epiphany moment in regards to why Cali, NY and WA. are so messed up

I think Moab might have had that epiphany already, which is why he wants to leave California.

As for the other thing, I'd say give it some time and I'm sure Moab will find some common ground with his potential new neighbors.

You don't have to have the same beliefs or political opinions in order to be good neighbors or good human beings towards one another and I really wish more people would figure that out.

Getting back on topic, I really wish the media would stop plastering this little bastards face all over the evening news.

I guess the media will never learn that all these deranged people want is to have their fifteen minutes of fame and the media plays right into it by putting their faces everywhere.

Which is why I'm so glad that UFoZS has that unwritten rule that anyone who commits crimes like this will never be referred to by their actual name. They don't deserve any recognition nor any fame they may seek by committing these horrendous crimes.

I'm sure I'll get along with everyone in MT. Its just to bad so many people find it necessary to be on one team or the other (meaning all right or all left) and can't make up their individual minds on individual topics without being lumped into a group of ideas.

I also read someplace that all the weapons were ny legal. Except he modified the ar to allow something. But I don't remember what. Maybe to accept mags or something? I don't recall.

It appears to be an old 20" A2 rifle with a fixed carry handle. It also appears that 30 rounds were fired before the first reload, and then 10 rounds after that.

IIRC, New York state has had a 7 round mag capacity limit for a while now, and I'm not sure if pre-owned mags were grandfathered. Maybe someone more knowledgeable about NYS laws can chime in.

The (UN)"Safe" act largely stood up in court and the SC at the time declined to pick up the case. The only part that got thrown out was the 7 round mag limit, we get 10 here. Nothing is grandfathered because the state passed its own AWB back in 1994 with no sunset provision.

Here's hoping after NYSPAR vs Bruen gets released (shortly) more legal challenges are put forth.
