Those of you in snow country may want to think about alternate emergency forms of transportation this winter. Maybe make friends with the guy/gal with the offroad truck.

Two very capable 4x4s in the family, both with heavy snow-rated tires and tire chains, and two drivers with years of experience driving in snow means never having to say, "Shit!  Well, it looks like we're stuck here."

Might be a good opening to bond with neighbors - share this article and let them know you may be available in an emergency.

I'm working on a sleigh and reindeer as alternative transportation.

On a serious note, thanks for the heads up! And I was amused at your sig, "Loving Texas more and more"

I always just wanted to hibernate through the winter anyway.

Other than the all night hours, I always enjoyed plowing, I could make 3 times the money plowing in the same amount of time as compared to mowing grass.  Salt prices have jumped significantly every season the last 10+ years.

My neighbor kid just bought a plow truck a few weeks ago.  He's already bemoaning the fact we haven't had any snow in our AO this season yet...  temps forecast to potentially break a record high tomorrow in the mid 60s.

Usually by now the city trucks are wearing their hydro units, salters and blades, but about a week ago they were still loaded with the leaf vacuums and sucking up leaves around town.

Haven't seen any state vehicles around lately, nor heard of driver shortages around here yet.
