We have all seen this before. It is mostly Kabuki Theater for the masses with some relevant fallout for us.

I'll note that my Military retirement check arrived on time as well as the disability check that arrived a shocking day early. That has never happened before. That ends my involvement with the Federal Government.

About 25% of the workforce in my area works either directly for the Federal government or for a government contractor. About half are DOD and half are other agencies. This doesn't me directly though.

What kind of fallout are you facing, if any?

I have lost count of the shut downs.

Yes it is theater.

BTW mandatory payments will continue. These include SS, Medicare, interest on debt amount others.

I will never claim to have all the answers. Depending upon the subject; I am also aware that I may not have all the questions much less the answers. As a result I am always willing to listen to others and work with them to arrive at the right answers to the applicable questions.

No fallout here.  The wife is a government employee, but she works for an agency funded by fees, not by Congress, so no effect there.  I just got my SS last week, and I'm not due again until the 22nd, and we should have this resolved by then.  If not, well, SS will continue anyway since it too is not funded by Congress.

No direct fallout, but it might put a hamper on hiring for a position I recently applied for. . . then again, maybe not.  We'll see.

Local community (other than fedgov employees) aren't anticipating too many changes for the near future, though a lot are hoping La Migra will get their funds cut.

May have direct fallout this week due to being on active duty but Navy Federal was more ready than last time and have temp interest free loans ready to go for members. USAA offers a temp loan as well but with a hard credit check and they have been getting fried by the community... again. They didn't learn a thing from the 2019 shutdown hence why I bailed on them except for some services.

Local communities are already loading up food banks and handing out gift cards like last time, prioritizing the junior members as they should.

I dumped USAA earlier this year. They replaced the German guy that didn't understand the US military with a Columbian guy that doesn't understand the US military.

In MS and other states SNAP payments will not be paid November 1,2025. Food stamps for millions will not be paid.

It may get interesting so do be aware.

I'd hate to own a restaurant about now.  Dine-and-dash rates are about to skyrocket.

Both parties presented separately a bill to pay the SNAP benefits as a stand alone bill and each time the other party has opposed it. They can't even agree to disagree.
