This happened in LA this year when the DMV database was compromised. While it may not be 100% of the population it was 100% of the data of people who had state of LA driver's license and state ID cards...complete with the digital photo. Everything that is on and needed to get a Real ID.
Folks you are on your own...Plan and act accordingly!

I will never claim to have all the answers. Depending upon the subject; I am also aware that I may not have all the questions much less the answers. As a result I am always willing to listen to others and work with them to arrive at the right answers to the applicable questions.

Oregon was also hacked back in June. Some states like Virginia and California will straight up sell your PII so it could be out there without a hack even taking place.

This seems to very specifically targeted. Remember, two part authentication for access to your important stuff is never a bad idea. Checking important accounts weekly isn't a bad idea either.

Your state ID information is for sale. By giving my drivers license # to an insurance agent he was able to pull up my cars, driving record and address.

He did not have my ss # or my picture or the documents I used to get my real ID drivers license  which in my case was a US passport and a social security card.

That data however was a part of the LA compromised data and likely all of the other states whose data was stolen.

It really passes me off that I go to a huge effort to safeguard my data only to have it compromised by some slackjawed .gov worker. I have had my data compromised twice the first time through the IRS and the second time through a state DMV.
A bunch of dumbasses...who don't know if they winding thier asses or scratching thier watches

Sorry I will stop my rant now..

Kind of how I felt when DCSA was hacked and the Chinese snatched my whole life history. Not that there was much to talk about there, just completely voided any glimmer of trust I had in the us.gov.
