Northern Command has adjusted the parameters of their radar capabilities in a way that they can see more than they could before," the official said.

This official explained that the suspected Chinese spy balloon triggered a new state of vigilance for the U.S. military.

Ya. Its all bullsh*t on some level. Trying to avoid whats really going on in Urkraine. Or with china. Or something. Our intelligence apparatus seems to work without US knowledge. At least on the citizens casual radar. In talking with my family few have any idea of the actual issues going on today. Content to ride out life in their tiny bubbles of American happiness.

I respect the job our intelligence and political apparatus have in dealing with the rest of the world. On the tactical and strategic front. They can't just be open faced and report everything they are doing or know. That would not work. But they should be at least not running their own agendas.

Good lord, that pico balloon tutorial is intimidating!  It says you have to register your device on the tracking network and give it a name. If I were ever to build one I think I'd name mine "Missile Bait".
