Quote from: Moab on July 17, 2025, 10:41:52 PMMy grandfather kept two of those cans in my front trunk. (Ya. Looking back I was driving a potential explosive device!) Full of gas and my tank topped off....

Quote from: Moab on July 17, 2025, 10:41:52 PMThe filler necks were the best. Except these were metal. But long and very flexible.

I was going to say that too, I seemed to remember a flexible metal filler cap like that.

I meant to say spouts. The spouts were a metal flexible type. I remember I used to light my GIJoes on fire. With the gas from the same kind of gas can. Except one winter we were lighting up my Evil Knievil doll. The one with the motorcycle that you could jump? And the gas can spout caught on fire. And literally started blowing ignited gas flame out of the spout. But my friend had the presence of mind to quickly stuff the flaming spout into the snow. I thought we were a goner for sure. But he put it out that fast. Scared the crap out of me. I never played "napalm" with my GI Joes anymore.

Lmao!

I used an old oil dispenser for my flame thrower. More controllable and more to scale. and a flame would stay lit on the tip so you'd just keep squirting and not have to hold a lighter to it. Only for army men and vehicles though,  GI Joes and evil Knievil were to expensive/valuable for me.

Army men were part of the repertoire. I was a pretty rebellious kid. I burned everything. Lol. I got caught playing with matches. And my dad put me in charge of the burning barrel. Big mistake. Lol. I would save up my mom's old (and sometimes new) hairspray cans. And blow them up in the 50 gallon burning barrel. Anything aerosol would explode in the fire and send a plume of smoke way up in the air.

I like the oiler idea. ;)
