I'm kinda thinking about an XTAR VC8 Plus.  I like the feature set it has and that it's an 8-slot.

It's too bad that Olight discontinued their Universal Magnetic USB charger (Nitecore also discontinued their similar Nitecore LC10 charger).  Those were nice because the battery's physical size doesn't matter that much.  I've got one of those Olight chargers that I'd forgotten about (I think it's in one of my bags).

How does this compare to the BT-90 Beam wise?
Folks you are on your own...Plan and act accordingly!

I will never claim to have all the answers. Depending upon the subject; I am also aware that I may not have all the questions much less the answers. As a result I am always willing to listen to others and work with them to arrive at the right answers to the applicable questions.

Going to test that in an hour or so.

Okay, I took a bunch of pics with the Sofirn IF22A, SD06, and the BT-90.  Now I just have to upload them in the right order and tag them properly.  Only tested the max brightness beam, be it "turbo" or whatever the highest brightness is.

SD06:

BT-90:

Picked up a flashlight yesterday from a local thrift store and I've never heard of the brand.

Brand is Perrini and it's a dual fuel light (runs off an 18650 battery or three AAAs with the included adapter thing).

I guess the model is the Perrini 8853 and uses a Cree XML-T6 LED.

That's a decent LED so it should give pretty good light with a charged 18650.

In other news, Olight has apparently hired the guy who invented the paper receipts at CVS to write their product user manuals.  It's a collaboration though, the other half seems to be the Ikea manuals designer.

I tried the included 18650 and it's fairly bright. Works pretty well with 3 AAAs well.

All in all, not a bad buy for 2 bucks.

My takeaway from that is, go with a name brand and carry spare batteries.

That and <shocker! :eek1: > off-brand Amazon headlamps inflate their lumen output by like, a million-bazillion-gajillion percent.

Picked up a Coast PX22 100 lumen light yesterday at Walmart.

Been wanting one of these for awhile now and finally picked one up to replace my current mini EDC light I keep in my vest. That one's been having issues with the spring in the tail cap, so I figured it was time to replace it.

Anyway, the Coast PX22 is roughly the same size, but has a brighter LED. According to the package, it's putting out 100 lumens on high and 43 lumens on low with a fixed beam. It's also IP54 rated (which I assume means it's waterproof or resistant to some degree).

Normally these lights are about 12 bucks at Walmart, but I got mine for 9 bucks since I think it was on sale.

Resistant.   Ingress Protection (IP) ratings

I like that light, it's pretty handy, and decently bright for a single AAA.  Perfect for looking for things that have fallen under the desk or couch, and all the little jobs you need a light for, but don't need a searchlight mimicking the midday sun.   :)

I actually just replaced one as my EDC, because I thought I lost it.  I got a ThruNite Saber on Amazon for about $12, shipped.  It's a little bigger, and comes with their rechargeable battery, but can also run on a single AA battery (but it's not as bright, apparently).  I can't speak to its longevity or durability yet, but it puts out a lot of light for a little guy!

I like my EDC lights to have a momentary on/off switch, which this one has. The one it replaced just has the standard click on/click off switch.

Which worked fine for a long time, but recently started giving me issues. I may have to work on it again and see what's going on, but it's being relegated to second line gear status so it's not a big deal.

Mr. E. Monkey

Ah, yeah, this one is just the standard click on/off, and alternates between the low beam and high beam modes.  The Coast light does have a good switch.   :)

I've heard a lot of people trash talk Olight and Olight Customer Service but I can honestly say that I've never been treated unfairly by them, and most of the time they go above and beyond to ensure I'm a happy customer. As a case in point, a friend recently gifted me their old PL-Pro Valkyrie.  It was dead when I got it so I charged it up but it didn't seem to be holding a charge so I contacted Olight, asking if they would repair it since it was out-of-warranty.  Their response was that I should still fill out a warranty claim form since that was the only way to put it in their system (they recently switched to lifetime warranties on their lights).  The form asked for a purchase date so I contacted CS and they responded to just leave it blank.  I did, but the form would not continue without it so I just set it aside, intending to disassemble the light at a later date and install new batteries if possible.

About two weeks later I got an email from the CS rep I'd been dealing with, asking how everything was going since nothing had come up in the system from me.  I told her the form wouldn't continue without a date and that I'd decided to trash the light after removing the batteries for recycling.  (I didn't want to say I was going to try fixing it myself in case they had any polices against that.)  She asked if I had yet.  When I said no, it was still on my desk waiting she said that because their system was giving me a hard time she was going to send me a refurbished PL-3R.

Not a bad deal for a light that cost me nothing to start with (and which I can still fix myself).  The new light shipped this morning.
