Yahoo - Jason David Frank, Original Green Ranger in 'Power Rangers,' Dies at 49

Actor Jason David Frank, who originated the role of the Green Ranger in the original "Power Rangers" TV series and became a staple of the franchise, has died at the age of 49, his representative confirmed to TheWrap.

A cause of death was not immediately made public.

Frank played Tommy Oliver in "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" when it debuted on Fox Kids in 1993, inhabiting the role of the Green Ranger. While Oliver was only supposed to appear in a limited number of episodes, the character was so popular that Frank returned as the White Ranger and would be a fan-favorite for decades to come.

Man, this sucks.

"Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" was a good part of my childhood in the '90s.

I'm right in the middle of writing a book for NaNoWriMo that is bigfoot-themed, so hearing this news today caught me off guard.  I hope that you've finally found some answers Linda.  :'(

I used to watch him play but never realized he was just a few years older than me.

I wasn't sure where exactly to post this, but I've noticed that since the 15th of this month, 20 members of the Chinese Academies of Engineering and Science have passed away.

They ranged in age from 77 to 102 and they've all died in Bejing within days of one another.

It may just be a massive coincidence, but it strikes me as a bit odd.

No less odd than Russian oligarchs who seem to be dying with suspicious regularity.

I know this: if I were Russian and either associated with the defense industry or critical of Putin, I'd stay the hell away from windows.   :rolleyes1:

China is having a massive resurgence of Covid and that age range is not noted for being able to fight through the infection.

I was also thinking that Covid was playing a part in this and it wasn't something more sinister.

Defenestration definitely seems a little more suspicious than a bunch of old guys potentially succumbing to a pandemic.

Italian movie director Ruggero Deodato, best known for his film "Cannibal Holocaust" that earned him an arrest in Italy on suspicion of murder, died December 29th at the age of 83.

The murder charge was eventually dropped after Deodato brought in the actors from the movie to prove they were still alive and he revealed to the court how he achieved the effects for the movie.

Deodato later appeared in Eli Roth's film "Hostel 2" in a cameo as a cannibal.
