sheddi

Hi folks!

I'm sheddi (a nickname that goes back a long way to uk.rec.sheds and a pun based on Jedi). I'm middle-aged, British, father of two and husband of one. I started prepping before I knew it was a thing, back in the 80s when MAD wasn't just a satirical magazine.

I'm more into building stuff than anything else, although I've started far more projects than I've finished - possibly more than I can ever finish.

I've had a desk-based job for almost 30 years but along the way I've also been a member of the PTA, a Scout leader, secretary of a charitable organisation, a radiation worker, a certificated fireworks technician, an accredited workplace first aider, a HazMat worker and assorted other roles.

I've camped, hiked, cycled and sailed, although I suspect the UK is a much less challenging place to do the first three of those than the US is.

I'm also hoping to retire before the end of the decade, which will be nice  :D

So...I should read it as "shed-EYE" rather then "SHED-ee"?

Good to know.

Man, I've been reading it as "SHED-ee" for years.

So for over a decade I've been reading it wrong ?

I've always given it a Boston accent and rhymed it with cheddar.

SHED-ee has alwaysd worked for me, too, the English language isn't precise enough to fret about :)

It's a bit like toe-MAH-toe vs. toe-MAY-toe ...
