Think I'm done Ranting for a bit.
For those who don't know me, I'm one of those "Jack of all trades"
I've been everything from a steel worker to a handyman and a mechanic.
I think I've found my home in a Kitchen (Ironically 2 decades ago, I gave it serious thought) and I currently work as a Kitchen Manager.  I do some gardening and fishing on the side, work with the scouts, and other groups that encourage folks to get out in the woods.  I have some computer knowledge though it's either pretty old (anyone remember As/400) or specialized (Linux, WHMCS, Docker), though the engineer in me can come up to speed pretty quickly when needed on most things techy.  I do light prepping that has helped during times of job loss, mostly food and self sufficiency.   A number of years ago, we were able to exist on a single income, the food stores and emergency fund for about 4 months as I re-entered the workforce after 15 years with specialized training and no degree to speak of.
Hoping this is the second home from the other place.  :)

Sure, in my old disaster recovery job we were still shipping several modern incarnations of those old beasts (First they were AS/400, then--IIRC--iSeries, eServer iSomething, and now System I).  Believe or not, those things are still common in certain mission-critical applications, seemingly particularly in the finance sector.  (I'll, er, just delete the lengthy tangent.)

Glad to see you over here.  I'll refrain from commenting on the hostilities.  ;)

The hostilities are pent up for the way things have been for a while.  I've said most of what I feel like saying, but it boiled down to "BOD dont like you"  "Lets burn all the chat threads to the ground" along with rules being ignored  for Mods (or their dating partners).  There are 2 classes of ZS'ers.  Those the STL crew knows IRL, and those bozos on the forum.
Suffice it to say, this is the last of it I'll mention over here.

Personally, I started on a PDP-8 in 1972.

You're all older and wrinklier than me  ;) I don't go back further than CP/M.

I remember seeing a Durango F-85 but I think the first one I actually got to use was an Intertec Superbrain.

I'm glad I missed all that and am glad you're over here now.

Welcome.  The last AS400 system I used was back in the late 90's.

Oh, wow! Flashbacks to my old job there! (we were upgrading our client's systems back in the early 2000s, some of which included AS/400 systems) Those weren't nearly as out of date as the MicroVAX II that we discovered (still in active use) at one of their warehouses! Ah, good times...   :smiley_knipoog:
