Are Benchmade not made in the US anymore? I thought that was a big part of their claim.

My guess is the lower priced Benchmade stuff is made in China, but the more expensive stuff is still made in the US.

I know Buck does something similar with some of their stuff. I've got some Buck knives that are made in the US and a couple that are made in China.

The Chinese Buck knives aren't bad, but the QC definitely isn't as good as the US ones.

Idk. For sure. If you read the article carefully that i posted. It pretty much said the Land knife for $16 was made in Benchmade's factory in china. But youd have to research that to know for sure. I know the Benchmade bugout knockoffs on wish are EXACT copies. I cant imagine anyone outside of a benchmade facility could do so well.

I have a Spyderco Resilience(sp?) and it's a biter. The blade doesn't always seat so when you reach in your pocket !ouch! I don't carry it anymore because of it. You can tighten the screw but it always drifts out of alignment and the detent isn't enough to keep it in place.

You can get the Sanrenmu knives on Amazon as well. Amazon also sells the Ganzo knives too.

As for the Spyderco Tenacious, I've got a pair of them along with the larger Resilience.  I use the Tenacious as my EDC folder (I also carry a Schrade/Uncle Henry Golden Spike fixed blade) and it has served me well for the past five or so years I've had it.

Of the 80 or so knives I own (I used to have a lot more, but I've downsized a bit over the years.), the Tenacious is the one I carry the most.

So according to my research, Benchmade claims that all official genuine Benchmade knives are made in the US.  There is some traction that they may buy at least some Chinese steel, but that's harder to substantiate.  As far as knock offs, it wouldn't be too hard to get one and copy it with modern manufacturing.  Dunno.

Finally received that "Benchmade" knife from eBay.  Yeah, this thing isn't bad, actually fooled my neighbor who's a Benchmade fan, but the fit and finish aren't Benchmade quality.  For one thing, the hole for the thumb stud was drilled at a slight angle, so the stud sits a little tilted.  It's a $25-$30 knife that I overpaid for, probably cost under $10 each on Ali Baba.

Btw nt2c and others. Ebay is getting better with returns. I returned a $300 used car part. And they gave me a code to send back via usps on their dime. I had switched to amazon after decades using ebay. Because of this issue. But looks like ebay may be improving things. You cant get it next day. But you can get better deals on ebay.

I bought a xmas gift for my son via alibaba. What a pain. Ive used them before. But this time they kept trying to get me to pay for the item twice. And customer service was a support bot. I think im done trying to be that cheap. Its either amazon, ebay, or direct from sellers website.

Huh, unless they're lying about the blade being 12C27, that's a pretty killer deal.  It's not quite a modern sintered "super-steel", but it's a fine-grained stainless with good edge and retention.

Ebay wants you to leave feedback for every transaction, and a person's feedback score is a good indicator of how much you can trust them to deal fair.  In my feedback I flat out said it was a counterfeit so that maybe it will be a warning to other buyers that things this guy sells are not what he claims.  If he gives me a hard time about my saying that in the feedback I'll just file a complaint about the fake with US Customs and he can explain to them why most of what he sells seems to be fakes. 

Usually, you only leave negative feedback if you plan to return an item, but he doen't accept returns anyway so that wouldn't happen regardless.

If it comes to that, you could tip of Benchmade and I'm sure their corporate attorneys would have a field day with that information.  I don't usually advocate litigation like that, but if counterfeiters are gonna cause a ruckus when they get called out, F em.

Oh. I see what your saying. So some guy on ebay is selling knifes marked "Benchmade" but they are fakes?

I did that on Wish. With a known counterfeit. A Benchmade Bugout. They used to be all over Wish. I bought one knowing it was fake. Based on a pretty good youtube comparison. Between the real deal and the fake. You really couldn't tell the difference.

But even if it was a solid fake. The Benchmade Bugout sucks to me. Way to lightweight. Its like a box cutter. And i paid $38 for it. And i think they go for $150+.  Its ok for what it is. I just dont get the need for such a thin lightweight knife. Glad i didnt buy the real deal for $150.

I know this sounds odd. That im judging a knife by its counterfeit. But it is a great counterfeit. Which is part of the reason i believed the review i posted at top. That those Land knives are counterfeited by the same factory that makes the real deal.

But I dont think you need the actual factory to make a good counterfeit anymore tho. China can rip off anything. Hell even my Uboat watch is counterfeit. But its an $8000 watch. So i would never own one otherwise. And you cant tell to look at it. I paid $100 for it.
