Seems pretty compact too.

Is that a telescoping radio antenna they call a pocket bellows? I know for a fact that rapidly extending and contracting those types of antennae make them to hot to hold onto.

Had a bit of an accident with my Leatherman Blast today.

I was using the pliers on it and I guess there was a flaw in the machining or something, but one side of the very tip of the pliers snapped off.

Since this particular tool was discontinued by Leatherman some years ago (the Blast was replaced by the Rebar), sending it to Leatherman isn't an option.

So out comes the Dremel with a cutoff wheel and now instead of needle nose pliers, my Leatherman Blast has a sort of blunt nose/semi needle nose set. They ain't perfect, but they'll work.

Now if I could find a semi-trashed Blast to use as a parts donor, that would be great. Only problem is I can't find one locally and I'd rather avoid using Ebay. May have to start checking the local pawn shops again.

When you say sending it back to Leatherman wasn't an option, did they tell you that or did you make that assumption? Because while I admire your resourcefulness in modifying your Blast to preserve some of the plier functionality, if you didn't at least reach out to Leatherman to see what they might do for you, taking the Dremel to it may have been a rash decision. Maybe they had some new old stock of Blasts set aside especially for warranty replacements. Maybe they would have sent you a Rebar, or offered you a credit towards another Leatherman product.

I actually emailed Leatherman about a repair on my Blast not long after the Rebar came out (so like 2010 or thereabouts) and Leatherman said they wouldn't repair it since the Rebar replaced the Blast in their catalog.
