It makes sense that it would be aliens, they're always there...lurking in the shadows and being all creepy like...

Anyway, another transfer from the old forums, here. I was a lurker and infrequent poster there and likely will be here too but I wanted to make sure my stupid handle was just that, MY stupid handle, for when I do drop my two cents in. I raise rabbits for meat and skins and chickens for eggs, I grow veggies year round and until a few months ago I raised bees as well. I hunt and fish as much as a I can and I forage a bit too. Because of the old site, I got into A LOT of diy stuff and I hope that I can add to the informative topics to come and inspire some of the folks that are new to what we do.

This is quite interesting. 🙂

In addition to hoped for single topic threads by you, I would enjoy listening (er.. reading) about you lifestyle in general. Does UFOZS, (wow, that does read UFOs doesn't it 🚀) is that a thing undead ZS does/doesn't do? Personal general thread type thing where members, someone say like @carrotstick, can talk and converse with the site members about their very interesting lifestyle in a more general way?

And, pleased to meet ya, @carrotstick.

Hi! Welcome! Please feel free to just start talking about your experience. You sound like a fountain of knowledge and we could all benefit. Why did you stop with bees a few months ago?

carrotstick

Howdy all, thanks for the warm reception!

Truth be told I didn't stop with the bees, they stopped with me. Before it really warmed up here in March we had a stretch of about a week that was uncharacteristically warm, about 15-20 higher than the before or after, so the bees started clearing out the hive after the winter and I think what happened was that the queen went out on her mating flight and got lost or died when it cooled down. We noticed them bearding one day and the next day they were gone. We searched the woods around my house for about two weeks but never found them. Heard a hive on a trail about two miles away but it was about thirty feet up in a tree and don't climb like I used to. When I get more I will most definitely do a post on it!

Aside from Halfapint and Optimist?  And Lettuce Pray?  And kinda sheddi?

...only if they want to.

Welcome!  Wish we were able to have chickens/rabbits in our locale, but our city frowns upon it.  Would be great to read on your experiences with them though.
