ESEE 4hm vs Gerber Strongarm.

I have some birthday money sitting in Amazon. I am for sure picking up the Helikontex 10x10 Polish Camo (fake name for multicam) tarp. But i have to decide between the ESEE 4hm and the Gerber Strongarm. I know the Esee is a much better knife. But im also going over budget. The Gerber is within my budget. But i want the Esee. Lol.

Convince me either way?

I've also got this in my cart. Seems like it might be made in the same chinese factory as Benchmade. Another reason i want the Gerber. I can afford an extra folding knife for my ghb.

I say if you can swing it, get the ESEE.  It's a much better knife, as you said, and I think it would serve you better, for longer.

As for the Benchmade knock off, it does have a similar profile blade to their drop point, but I'm still not convinced Benchmade is made in China and just lying about being made in Oregon.  I could be wrong however.

I have no argument for one or another. I'm encouraging resisting the impulse buy, and waiting to get what you want more.

You already have knives. There's no rush to get more. So take your time and get what you'll value more in the long run.

As for the Benchmade knock off, it does have a similar profile blade to their drop point, but I'm still not convinced Benchmade is made in China and just lying about being made in Oregon.  I could be wrong however.

The Benchmade knockoff is just an after thought really. For 20 bucks ill drop it in one of my bags. Or my family members bags and see how it is. I have no illusions thats its really a benchmade. But it has nice reviews.

Ya. The esee 4hm. Ive lusted after that knife ever since my esee 5. The esee 5 is nice. But its big and cumbersome. Even after swapping out more ergonomic g10 scales. And etching that cool skull and crossbones into it. The 4 just seems like a more usable blade. And the 4hm has the way better handle and scales. A version of which should be on all there knives. Or at least more ergonomic scales like the g10s they make for them.

The $30 cost difference between the gerber and esee is negligible. And i cant stop thinking about bear grylls everytime i see a gerber. Leaves a bit of vomit in my throat. Lol.

Yeah, those Bear Grylls Gerbers were strange.

Looked like Gerber didn't really try too hard with them. Most of them were just current models with Bear's signature etched on the blade and blaze orange handle scales or rubber molding.

I almost picked one of the fixed blades up on clearance at the Walmart in Hobbs New Mexico once, but decided against it. Ended up buying a box of 12 gauge shells instead.

Yeah, for a spare in a bag, that knockoff might not be bad, and could even be decent.  Only one way to find out.  So sounds like you're getting the ESEE, just a question of when LOL.  And man that ESEE 5 is a handsome blade.

Ill enter my gift cards tomorrow. And pick up the tarp. Ya. Finally! A decent tarp. I was gonna get the swack shack. But its a custom order at 10x10. Its also heavier. I dont need anymore heavier. And ill get the esee 4hm.

The only reason i kept looking at the gerber was the ridiculous price. Buy once. Cry once. I still struggle with that.
