Full disclosure: I own a Leatherman Wave which I love.  Unless you have special needs, I maintain this is the best, highest quality all around multitool on the market.

But at well over $100 for the real McCoy, it's tempting to consider a knock off, especially at $30 or less. Some of them are apparently getting scary good.

I use one of these Snap-on Multi-Tool Leatherman clones, and it's really well made, but like the real deal it's pretty damn pricey if you have to pay for it.

But for a cheap price, I've found that these Ryobi Multi-Tool are really good for the low, low price of $13. I've got 4-5 pairs scattered around my house, in the truck, Escalade, and wherever I need one. If I lose one, I'm not out of a ton of money, but them work good for what I need them to do...

Wow. I just put the flissa on my shopping list. Thanks majorhavoc.

This should also be posted to the bargains section.

I had no idea the wave patents had expired. I have an original leatherman, a surge and three wingman. I picked the wingmans up for $20 each on a not noticed ebay sale some years ago. They are my hiking and throw away/ leave them in my Jeep multitools. But really they are perfect for bug out and backpacking imho. They are very lightweight. And I find the robust scissors to be essential for first aid and gear repair.

But I've always wanted a wave. Just couldn't afford one. Until now. I'm happy with a clone. :)

Swiss-Tech now makes a Wave clone that's like 50 bucks on Walmart dot com. Might be cheaper now.

Not sure the steel type, but I think it's the same on their folders which is AUS-8.
