The meetup thread got me thinking. We're spread all over the place, but doing "group" events (postal matches, etc) is always fun.
Should we pick a month and hold an organized, decentralized mock bugout? Meaning, within a 30-day window, participants have to complete, document, and post results for an overnight grab-and-go to the location of their choice, using means and methods of their choice.
I'm not sure exactly how to do it, but an interesting spin might be having a randomized "plot twist" to problem-solve. Nothing life-threatening, but "oh shits" like having a tool of the user's choice break, or getting forced to pack up and change locations by rabid squirrels (with failure to move resulting in a gear check for a way to fend them off).
Anyone interested? September is National Preparedness Month, so that seems kind of obvious, but I'd say any summer month is a good idea.
