Title: Katrina Experiences - Raptor's Original Thread
Post by: CG on April 24, 2022, 06:59:46 AM
I had saved Raptor's thread from the old forum on his experiences during Katrina because it was epic and had tons of things to ponder in it.  With his permission, I've attached the PDFs here.  Note that this is pages 1-4; I have 11 pages saved, so it'll take 2 more posts to get them all up.

Here's the Internet Archive Wayback Machine link as well (I had a bookmark for that thread which let me find it on the archive.org website).  I just clicked through and it looks like the whole thread works.

Looks like it archived it before the last posts on mine were added in 2018.  I think I'd asked Raptor at the beginning of summer in 2020 or 2021 what he'd do differently - I think answer was not much, with slightly better technology.

Thank you CG.
Raptor's thread shocked me when I first read it and I'm glad it's been saved.
(One example from the first couple of pages of your Part 2 pdf; I've obviously led a very sheltered life as it would never have occurred to me to offer cash bribes to the PD.)

In a normal situation I would not recommend tipping public employees. :smiley_knipoog:

To be honest I have trouble reading this thread, 2005 was a very bad & traumatic time for many people. The aftermath was a real eye opener for me. It made me double down on my preps and distrust of the PTB.

Thank you for saving this thread. I could not figure out how to do so and assumed it was lost.
