Title: $500 monthly 'Premium' Starlink service with speeds up to 500 Mbps.
Post by: Moab on February 02, 2022, 06:16:43 AM

SpaceX reveals $500 monthly 'Premium' Starlink service with speeds up to 500 Mbps. The dish will cost $2,500 and you'll need to put down a $500 deposit.

Obviously this isnt for anyone except business owners that require higher speeds in a rural setting or just rich folks. But one comolaint about the $100 a month version is that you couldnt game or facetime very well. I wonder if thats possible with this version.

Either way im sure this price will go down in the future. Very interesting tech for those wanting to live in the middle of nowhere. But still need high speed internet.

Back to your thread on backup comms, this would, I imagine, be reliable access to the internet in a SHTF situation if you paired it with off grid power.

Assuming whatever SHTF happened did not include "shooting down satilites."

I never thought of that. Good point!

The starlink system really opened up rural living for me. Having seen how bad hughes net is. I knew i was going to give up a large part of the internet.

It actually doesnt matter where u live. Starlink would be a great system to have  for these vary reasons.

500Mbps is the downlink speed I believe.  What's the uplink speed?
