That wasn't a plane crash. That was a missile impact. Good lord!

I just watched that video and I have to concur with that.
That plane went down scary fast. :eek1:
Google headline said it went from 35,000 feet to impact in 72 seconds traveling at 640 to 690 MPH in a near vertical descent.

Did you listen to the recording? It was horrific! Woman pilot. Kept her wits about her to the very end. But man it was brutal. I felt traumatized just listening to it. I could not have kept even that composed. It was horrific. She was watching her own death as she communicated with the tower.
That's why we use extremely calm people, who can handle pressure, to be pilots. But man. I don't know of many people that could stay calm enough to continue communicating while nose diving into the earth at max velocity.
recording
It cut power, water, and sewer to a neighborhood causing displacemnt/evacutation to shelters of 600 people.

I was shocked by the depth of that crater in the other aftermath video. And it sounded like a missile.
When I was a kid, I jumped off a high dive and I was amazed that it takes so long to fall - that you're in that completely uncontrolled state for what feels like such a long time that you can actually look around and take everything in as you go.
That was a full minute of terror, knowing they were going to hit the ground and die and there was nothing they could do about it. There was a mother and a father on board, realizing their children were scared and about to die and there was nothing they could do about it.
I've never feared death, but I've always feared dying.

Such an apt metaphore.
I hate the feeling of falling.
I don't fear death. But I do fear the pain of dying. And worse yet living with the knowledge you're about to die a painful death. Something about going thru that slower makes it more palatable. But only having moments is terrifying. And gives you no chance to reflect or consider anything except the initial terror.
Falling is like that for me. Well put, Anianna.
