Tuck tape is used to seal off seams in tyvek house building material. And is also the best repair tape for nylon gear that there is. Think down jacket, sleeping bags, tents etc etc.
The woman in question used it on a pair of down socks. And its lasted for 15 years.

I hope better. I used some of that on my down jacket. It didnt fair that well. I have an idea that this industrial level tape is going to test well. Im going to buy some and see how it does.
