Pondering what to write, as I was never particularly active on ZS--more of a lurker. Actually, that pretty much describes me: lurking in the background. I once ran into an old friend in NYC who was absolutely befuddled to see me there. As he put it, watching me walk around there was like seeing a coyote trying to sneak across the city. . . .
I have fond memories of ZS:
Sending off the requisite note asking to join and hearing nothing back for a year, then sending a second note and being added to the membership in a couple hours (much prefer this system, even with the expected Newbie Moderation).
Being tipped to some good pieces of kit, like netbooks. . . the ASUS EEE some of the guys helped me select stayed with me as my primary computer through grad school.
Mad Mike's comment about the author of a book I bought from him.
An interesting discussion about ammo selection for carry guns, and the reaction to my statement that I preferred to extensively test ammo before trusting my gun to feed with it. (Something that holds today: I'm carrying ammo that has fed flawlessly in my pistol for 2500+ rounds AND hits to POI. Not my first choice for ammo but the dang little pistol shoots my preferred 9BPLE about 6" low at 25 yards.)
But then it was gone. I'm glad to see something rise from the ashes.

Welcome! Pull up a chair and get comfy.
Glad that you've found us!
Welcome to the new place, Habu.
Hopefully you'll make some new fond memories of this site as you did with the old one.
Welcome to the forum.
Lurk, post - either works. Welcome and glad to have you!
Welcome back!
I sometimes feel like a coyote whenever I visit a major city, too!
Howdy.
Thanks for the welcomes, folks (and the unexpected bump in post counts--to get around moderation, i guess?)!
I'll try to be a bit more participatory than I was previously: I've got a bit more time these days.
Glad you made it!
Welcome!
