Wondering what we might be able to do with empty ZYN containers? ZYN is the tabacco-less nicotine pouches. They come in these handy waterproof(?) and maybe airtight plastic containers. If not they are close enough. They close really tight. Are a nice pocket or storage shape. Basically the same size and shape as a can of Skool or Copenhagen chewing tobacco. Maybe 3"x1"?
I thought maybe it would make a great fire starting tin for Vaseline and cotton? Maybe throw a small fire steel in and striker. Fishing kit?
Anybody got any other ideas? Was thinking about a contest and giving away a prize(?).

I have done sewing kits small spools of thread ,fishing kit, fire kit in them or Copenhagen tins I had both. Could put a small bore snake rolled up in one maybe. A tiny edc kit like the altoids, tin a scaple blade 2 bandaids, one use packet of ointment, toothpicks, floss.
A good usage I've found is a place to store different sized fishing flys in ZYN containers. If you can get your hands on a few of the metal ZYN cans, they are really useful.

Wow. I've never seen those.
I hadn't either until a few weeks back. They are becoming quickly popular at the railroad. The metal cans help stop accidentally crushing the plastic cans by simply dumping the plastic can into the metal ones and tossing the plastic can into the trash. They can be purchased from Amazon among other places. ZYN Metal Cans... I got started with Hawkins which came in plastic containers. But that was beginners stuff. And back then I never thought to repurpose the containers.
Also back then I think Skoal pouches came in plastic containers like that, but not sure. Didn't ever use them. The standard snuff came in a waxed cardboard container with a tin lid, not really water proof. Graduated from Hawkins to Skoal to Copenhagen.
Nowadayz if I smell Mescal Tequila, Which smells exactly like Copenhagen dip to me, my mouth still will start to water. And I haven't dipped in 20 years. :eek1:
These metal ones are semi water proof right?

Probably to some degree yes. The ones I've seen come with an o-ring seal which is supposed to prevent moisture from getting into the container.
This would make a great contest. Like let everyone pick a genre ie- fire kit, fishing kit, ifak, etc
I'll dig around tomorrow and see if I can find some stuff to give away.
I have 12 of the plastic ones.

I think the circular shape would lend itself toward snare kits or fishing kits. Looping wire or line.
Since I don't have a snare/trapper kit, I'd probably try that.

In addition, it might be a good container for Vaseline and cotton. My favorite firestarter.
I have seen MAD Gear Company use them for Meshtastic cases

Thats cool! They must be somewhat waterproof.
