Title: 2nd Assassination Attempt (Trump Unharmed)
Post by: majorhavoc on September 15, 2024, 05:05:11 PM
Shooting at West Palm Beach Golf Course. (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/15/us/politics/trump-shooting-golf-course.html?unlocked_article_code=1.K04.pCw-.MrkyXXFfn5nm&smid=url-share)

Obviously a huge political dimension to this, which I am staying away from.  Posting about it because it impacts everyone's personal safety as we enter election season.  For anyone who still doesn't believe that even wider political violence this fall is a real possibility: you aren't paying attention.

Apparently the USSS managed to capture this schmuck alive this time.

Hopefully they'll get more info about who greenlit the attempt and why.

I work in a big government building where the polling station will be downstairs near the council chambers. We share our campus with the regional County Court, municipal court, and a local college. I'm very concerned about an incident, and it's probably telling we all had mandatory refresher training on workplace violence and shootings from SWAT this month, including sheltering in place, what supplies we need to keep in our offices, and how to detect and report suspicious activity and breaches of controlled access.

From the BBC:

QuoteSecret Service agents spotted the barrel of a rifle poking through some bushes and opened fire at him, officials said. The FBI said Trump was 300-500 yards (275 to 455m) away at the time.

How the fuck does the USSS let an individual with a rifle get well within rifle range after a previous failed attempt where they were lambasted for their unprofessional security cordon??
