I guess these must be those knives that somehow become self-animated and go on a rampage, all on their own. Just like guns supposedly do here in the US. The Brits are taking serious action against them though:
QuoteWhat is a zombie knife?
Zombie knives were first banned in 2016 but a new, broader definition (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/66a26887fc8e12ac3edb04e4/2024.06.18_Public_guidance_for_the_Zombie-Style_Knives_and_Machetes_Surrender_and_Compensation_Scheme_FINAL.pdf) designed to outlaw more blades will take effect in England and Wales on 24 September.
From then it will be illegal to own a knife with a sharpened blade longer than 8in (20cm), if it also has other features, including:
- A serrated cutting edge
- More than one hole in the blade
- Spikes
- More than two sharp points in the blade
So, better turn in that Ginsu you bought back in the 80s, that fucker is illegal on soooo many levels!

Multiple points and serrations! Blimey, you must be a secret serial killer if you have one of those!
So what else do you have in that "knife drawer" of yours in the kitchen, mate...? Holy hells! Would you look at this evil bastard?

What the hell is your excuse for owning this damned tool of Satan?!? Slicing
cheese you say? "Cheese", is that some kind of code word for... wait, you're not bloody FRENCH, are you? Those damned cheese eaters would surely have an evil device like this hidden in their houses!
Alright then, it's off to the lockup with you then. Your days of terror and mayhem are over.
wheeeew! Good to know my 7" fillet knife couldn't do any damage and is still legal.

That's what she said! :greenguy:
George Orwell is screaming from the afterlife, " '1984' was a warning, NOT an instruction manual, you fucking idiots!".
This is insane the British just go along with whatever their government says. A prime example of what happens after "common sense gun control". "Common sense knife control". Next will be "common sense mind control".

Don't give them any ideas, Moab.
I and my reanimated friends and family take exception to the ugly and demeaning use of the label "zombie" to describe these common kitchen utensils vile instruments of murder and mayhem.
I mean, why not just call them "overbearing government bureaucrat" knives? It would be a more accurate (and frankly far more terrifying) name.
To (horribly butcher this) quote Ron Reagan "The nine scariest words one can hear are ' I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' ".
Of course the British version would be "I'm from the government and I'm here to respond to problems in the absolutely stupidest manner possible while doing nothing about the actual problem itself."
Meanwhile their media is hiding the riots going on there. The one area of society they have finally become fed up with apparently - mass immigration from foreign conflict zones. There are now large areas of Britain run by violent, very conservative immigrants. That they have been picking up on foreign shores, boating them to England, and setting them up with lodging, jobs etc. Kind of like what has been happening here for years.
What I don't understand is how they can organize and riot around this issue. But totally role over on gun control. And now knife control. Watching their news coverage and the utter freak out about kitchen knives. And the mass destruction and mayhem that is surely going to happen if they don't ban grandma's cutlery! Is like watching a comedy sketch. Like literally the first time I watched one I couldn't believe it. It was just a full on panic. Obviously meant to hand over a draconian amount of control to their government. As if they don't have enough already. People are getting multiple month prison sentences for online posts. Over 3000 last year. It literally is 1984.
The scary part is, I always look at the UK and see their policies as a preview of future US policies, 25-50 years down the road.

I know we're not supposed to talk about this. But is anyone else concerned about the election aftermath? Is there a way for us to discuss this? Maybe start a discord or some other chat somewhere else?
I'm very concerned. I live in a hot bed of unrest as it is.

Discussion of civil unrest, regardless of cause, is very much a topic that can be discussed here. What's forbidden is discussion of party politics or discussion of candidates that is political in nature.
For example: "When Donald Trump became president unrest was expected so it was wise to prep for it." is a valid discussion point.
"When so-and-so was elected the election was rigged and we should protest and demonstrate about it!" is very much
not a valid discussion point on this site, not even in private messages unless you're making a report to a moderator.

I'm reminded of an episode of "Contraband: Seized at the Border" I saw awhile back.
In this episode, the CBP seized a bunch of weapons bound for Mexico. There were a couple legit firearms, but most of them were air rifles. One of them I recognized as a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun because I actually have one.
One of the CBP officers decides to grab the obvious BB gun instead of one of the actual firearms and say to the cameras "We're happy to get these dangerous weapons of war off the streets and out of the hands of the cartels."
I watched that and said to myself "My man, it's a BB gun. The only thing that's in danger from that thing are soda cans and maybe Ralphie from "A Christmas Story".
Even the CBP guy's partner was looking at him like "You moron.".

I did a Google image search on that pic figuring it had to be some kind of fake, that this was too absurd to possibly be legitimate. Especially when I first traced it to a website called 4plebs.org, under the /Politically Incorrect subforum. Honest to God, I went into this thinking this reply was to be a cautionary tale about thinking critically and not beleiving everything you see on the internet.

Right? I triple checked before I posted, and that's why I linked the original tweet from the police in my post just to be sure.
It's scary to me that there are people who looked at that original tweet back in 2018 and actually felt safer.
And it's scary that anyone in law enforcement would throw 2 screwdrivers, a file, a pair of scissors, and 2 pairs of pliers into an evidence locker and say "Yeah, mission accomplished."
My question is what dipstick is looking at a file and thinks "Oh man, what a dangerous weapon. Better get this off the streets before someone gets hurt."
And yet, they let people just wander about willy-nilly with... umbrellas! Just let them walk around with pointed spears and not even require that they be registered and licensed?

That'll be next.
I obviously don't follow British social media. But has there ever been any outcry about how ridiculous this is?!
I guess not since they jailed 3000 people for online posts. This is so 1984. 1984 is blushing.
