:eek1: I hope no one is hurt. Is this of enough magnitude to cause structural damage?

Well maybe in a third world country.... So probably not looking too good for Jersey
So far there are no reports of serious injury or damage - just a lot of startled people. I know several people that felt it, but I was in my car when it happened and felt nothing. I'm about 300 miles (450ish km) straight line from where it happened.
I was driving at that time didn't feel anything about 160 miles south. Asked others and they didn't feel anything either.
Most interesting, and somewhat rare.
"The April 5, 2024 earthquake was a once-in-a-lifetime event (https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/new-jersey/2024/04/05/nj-earthquake-house-shaking-lebanon/73215981007/).
The magnitude 4.8 earthquake near Tewksbury was the most significant
to impact North Jersey since 1884, when an Aug. 10 earthquake somewhere
near Jamaica Bay toppled chimneys and moved houses off their foundations
as far as Rahway."
( Friday's earthquake made NJ earthquake history. Here's why (northjersey.com) (https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/new-jersey/2024/04/05/nj-earthquake-history-april-5-strongest-magnitude-since-1783/73216939007/#:~:text=Other%20than%20that%20quake%2C%20there,Office%20of%20Emergency%20Management%20records.))
My hope is that this is not a precursor to a great quake.

There have been 6 small aftershocks after the 1st one.
The fault line near me hasn't moved in thousands of years. They expect that if it does anything more than the 1-2 magnitudes (we can't feel these) that happen a few times a year, it will be a 7+ one. I live less than 5 miles from the fault line, so...

Earthquakes while driving feel like you got a flat or driving over uneven road. Like your shocks are bad

The news just said there was another aftershock a few minutes ago nearly as strong as the initial quake. They're saying y'all may be having aftershocks for days.

That fault had a 3.8 back in the 80s. I was at a hunting camp playing poker with some buddies and I told one of them to stop vibrating the table with his knee and he said it wasn't him. Next thing we knew stuff was falling out of cabinets, the lights went out (propane gas lights and the mantles broke and crumpled) and the shotgun by the door fell down. Gonna say this was '85 or '86 and we were near Schroon Lake.

Checked in with a couple of friends in the NJ area; they're doing fine, too.
Another quake at M3.8+ hit at 2024-04-05 13:59:13 (UTC)
Still not over.
