Title: ARk Storm - California
Post by: KentuckyCarbine on February 05, 2024, 12:53:42 PM
Is anyone out in California near LA or San Diego?  How is the storm affecting you?

My dad lived in Ventura after he retired but he passed about 7 or 8 years ago - but I still follow the sports and weather out there.

Good Seattle type rainy days recently. But nothing to write home about. There are a couple places that always flood. Like Topanga Canyon and Santa Barbara. But they are quite small areas compared to the rest of socal.

Most of this is marketing hype from the news orgs. I don't recall the scary term for this years rainy season. But it made me laugh. Every year they come up with some new psuedo scientific term for the "rare once in a lifetime storm" headed to California.

It's all mainly bullshit. If a real storm ever did hit they would have cried wolf so many times no one would take it seriously.

The waves were cool. But no greater than any other rainy season in socal.

LOL - they are making it sound like it's pretty apocalyptic - but the lack of live shots or pictures made me wonder ...

Lets take that back a little. I just discovered our back patio is flooded. The dogs can't get to their kennels without wading thru inches deep water. When I get back from a drs appt were gonna have to dig out a trench to drain it. Not catastrophic. Just a flaw in the design of this houses landscaping. But still.

This is a webcam feed from the town of Crestline in the San Bernadino mountains. We used to own property there. The building in construction is the towns Grocery store. Which collapsed last winter  during that major snow event.

Water drained off the patio. But I'm still gonna dig a trench.
