This has the potential to be world changing. Curious if it is low cost and easy to produce why we aren't using it now?

Nice find.

Yup. Some flaw or unforseen issue is bound to show up down the road. It's rare when it doesn't.
Although a fantasy movie it did come to mind when reading the MIT Hydrogel thing. Remember the Highlander movie where Macleod saves the Earth with the dome? And after a few years... 😐.
It's always something. 🙂

Couldn't you still use it for distilled water? Add some minerals back in and you'd have perfectly adequate drinking water.

You don't need the minerals to hydrate yourself or water crops. Electrolytes help you retain water in your cells [keep you hydrated] as well as nerves and muscle functioning properly.
If you're about to die of dehydration ...

Mineral water is mostly for taste though, absorption is iffy. Asbestos tastes like nutmeg and cyanide tastes like almonds. So its already flavored. :greenguy:

Brawndo has what plants crave. It has electrolytes

Stop it. Don't
do that to me.
I had a mouth full of coffee when I read that and I laughed so unexpectedly and with such force that, well, I didn't swallow anything.
And coffee doesn't look good on my carpet and wall.
