From what I'm hearing, it was a van that caught fire somehow and then went BOOM.

I question that unless there was something of significance in the van. That is a sizeable wall of smoke for
just a van.

I question it as well.
It's possible it could've been a work van of some kind with flammable materials in the cargo area.
It's also possible news sites are pulling things out of their asses and trying to drive clicks to their sites.
The news reports said that it was an oxygen tank delivery van. The engine caught fire and the driver tried to put it out, then tried to remove the canisters, but couldn't get them all out in time.
