So I picked up a couple of Swiss-Tech folders about a month ago from Walmart's website and figured I'd do a quick review on them.
Normally I'd do the review on my blog, but since no one reads that anymore (and I really haven't updated it since 2021. :gonk: ), I figured I'd do a review here instead.
The first blade we're going to look at today is the "Gerundet" folder.
There's two versions of this folder, one with a carbon fiber inlay and one that's got a dual color set of scales (grey and yellow). I picked up the carbon fiber inlay model since it looked better than the grey and yellow one.
Anyway, the blade is made of titanium coated AUS-8 steel which gives it great corrosion resistance and pretty decent edge retention. It's also easy to resharpen once the edge dulls. Both the "Gerundet" and "Wurdig" are flipper style blades and the "Wurdig" has the addition of a disc shaped thumb stud. The "Gerundet" just has the little flipper tab, which I prefer over the disc thumb stud.
The blade is 3 inches long, rides on ceramic ball bearings instead of the usual nylon or bronze phosphor washers, and the overall length is 7 1/8 inches total.
It's also got a nice deep carry pocket clip that lets it almost disappear in your pocket. The clip is only in the right side, tip up style, which may ding it a little for some folks. I personally don't mind it since that's how I prefer to carry most of my pocket knives.
Overall it's a decent little knife. It's not the most uber tactical or fancy, but it's also not designed to be that way. It's designed to be a budget friendly, high quality blade for anyone who wants or needs a good knife.

I've actually got zero issues with this knife and plan to add it to my EDC knife rotation. Usually I carry a Spyderco Tenacious, but I kind of want to retire that one for a bit since I've carried it everyday for the last 7 years.

Now, onto the "Wurdig" from Swiss-Tech.
Like the "Gerundet", there's two versions of the "Wurdig". One with green canvas micarta scales and one with coarse black G10 scales. I picked up the one with the green canvas micarta scales, though I do plan on buying the coarse black G10 scale one soon.
This one has the same blade steel as the "Gerundet", but features a set of green canvas micarta scales as well as the addition of a red anodized aluminum thumb disc (which I'm not a fan of and will tell you why in a minute).
The blade length is the same as on the "Gerundet", but the overall length is just a slight bit longer at 7 1/4" long. Another difference is the "Wurdig" has an ambidextrous pocket clip that's also a deep carry clip, but it doesn't disappear like the "Gerundet". There's just a slight bit that sticks out, but not really enough to be noticeable.
Like the "Gerundet", the "Wurdig" also rides on ceramic ball bearings instead of the usual nylon or bronze phosphor washers. Both knives are incredibly smooth opening and close really easily as well. And the lock up is perfect with no blade wobble and the blade centering is perfect as well.
I like the "Wurdig" a lot, much like the "Gerundet", but I think there's some room for improvement on both models. Like the addition of some jimping on the spine of the both blades. Or in the case of the "Wurdig", some checkering on the thumb disc.
But that's not a deal breaker that neither blade has that.
The "Wurdig" is also really light. I'm not sure exactly how much it weighs, but it's not much. That's probably thanks to it being made of micarta with thin steel liners instead of aluminum like the "Gerundet".
You can seriously put the "Wurdig" in your pocket and forget that it's there. I actually did that when I first got it. :smiley_crocodile:
Overall, I really recommend both knives to anyone looking for a budget friendly (both knives come in at about 30 bucks each on Walmart dot com.) EDC pocket knife.

So, that's my review of the Swiss-Tech "Gerundet" and "Wurdig" pocket knives. I hope y'all liked it.
