Well its come to my town finally. So much for our stellar police force. The police department is right on main street. Where all but one of these took place. And when I say "Main Street" I mean its 6 blocks long.
Burglars in a white BMW drove into town "sometime in the middle of the night". Broke out the front or back windows of 6 businesses and randacked each business.
You may have heard me talk about El Segundo before. We are way over policed. But only a mile or two from the freeway that separates good and bad areas in Los Angeles.
These type of crimes have become much more prevalent in LA. Others are in broad daylight. Smash and grabs at businesses by large groups. Or a car load of criminals following people home from luxury businesses and robbing them. Or they ram your car. And then rob you. Gangs have organized teams going around the city doing this. To the point the LAPD had to form a taskforce specifically dealing with this.

Yea it seems to have gotten really bad. I recently saw a video of the same criminal activity in the San Francisco area also. I would guess it's probably nation wide in the larger cities. At least in the cities with strong gun control laws

LA county is offering a ccw for the first time in decades. As part of their response to this huge increase in violent crime since covid. Prior to this there were like 3 issued in like 40 years or something. And only to celebrities.
You are interviewed and have to state a reasonable need to carry. My PI license qualifies. But even things like working late into the night qualifies. You are only allowed one specific pistol to carry. Meaning it has to be registered as your official carry gun and you are only allowed to carry that one gun. It also has to be one approved on the California roster of allowed handguns. Which is a list of about 200 pistols 5 years or more older. The list was put out like five years ago. And the law states no other handgun models shall be added unless they can serial stamp each bullet as you shoot it. A technology that does not exist.
All of my pistols were brought into the state prior to any of these laws. And weirdly enough all were originally owned by people that are dead now. So I've never had to register them.
So if I used one as my official ccw pistol it would get registered. So I need to purchase a new pistol prior to applying. About the best I can get is a Glock 19 gen 3. Or a Glock 23. Iirc. Your limited to a 10rd mag. So I would probably go with the 23. I may be mistaken on that tho. Its the 22 or 23 that is a subcompact with a 10rd mag. Or the Glock 19 for when the shtf. With the idea that you "might" find a scary high cap mag along your way. ;)
This is why I have been carrying a knife everywhere I go. Not that I get bothered. I'm 6'3" 250 and don't always look that friendly. Lol. It has its advantages. But ya. LA has become untenable.
Heading to Big 5 today to buy more ammo. I need more .38 and .380 for some of my bug out pistols for the family. You have to take your birth certificate with you or have a real id. Real id is the new hightech id they offer. Which I have avoided getting thus far.
Because of the gun laws its way easier to get a gun and ammo on the black market here. Than for a law abiding citizen like me. Makes no sense.
Texas has that Real ID thing now too, Moab.
I had to go get my license renewed last year and because I didn't have an actual copy of my birth certificate, I had to go to the county clerk and get a copy.
The whole process was a bigger pain in the ass than it needed to be, but I got it done and I don't have to worry about renewing it for the next 8 years. I will be heading to my birth town to get an actual copy of my birth certificate soon, though, so I won't have to go through that again.
I haven't visited my birth town in about a decade, so it might be fun seeing what's changed since the last time I was there.
