Post edited and reopened.  This is how we plan to deal with videos that cross lines in our site rules.  They may be linked to, but the link must be made such that the material does not auto-display.

No worries, Moab.  It's part of our job as admins to deal not just with the bright red and bright green sides of the line in the sand our rules are, but also the dull grey areas.  This post was squarely in that grey area and lead to an improvement of the site rules to cover such things in the future.  We'll be a better site for having dealt with it.

It is definitely a grey area. I agree.

As a private investigator I have been inundated with seminars, schools and classes on locksmithing over the years. Its very common in my industry to offer those skills to PI's. I don't know why. As its an illusion brought on by the movies and tv. PI's aren't breaking into offices and homes to find evidence. That's ridiculous.

I have avoided such information like the plague. Its such a questionable area. I don't feel like it gives a very good look for my industry. As I can only think of nefarious purposes a PI would use this for. And who in their right mind is going to offer an illegal service to a customer?! There is no amount of money that could make me risk that. Not to mention if your a good businessperson you shouldn't have to in the first place. More than enough legit business out there.

Not to mention, its information that is constantly changing. If you want to be a locksmith, fine. But otherwise I see no need to waste time on it. Although the bump lock mechanism was an interesting invention. And I think all of the open research into breaking locks these days has finally proven that the only thing a lock does is keep good guys out. Bad guys are always going to find a way. Ever seen what a chainsaw can do to drywall?! Lol. Always makes me laugh when I see people spending hundreds of dollars on fancy locks for their drywalled apt or house.

I was very surprised to learn that master keys for heavy equipment existed. And that they were so easily obtained. I can think of many scenarios where this would be helpful. But only in an emergency.

I've always lived in grey areas. Lol! Its what fascinates me. How to do things that aren't supposed to be done. 😁
