I've EDC'd a pair of these (one in my sweats, the other in my street pants) for going on almost a decade now and I've given a dozen of these away as gifts.  In all that time and with all those lights, the only failure to ever happen was a tail switch whose circuit board loosened and started to unscrew, causing the light to become intermittent.  I contacted Lumintop Customer Service and they immediately sent a replacement (with tracking) that same day.  No, not a new switch, an entirely new package with all the accessories.

The two I personally EDC have gone through the wash, been dropped, driven over, and endured countless hours in pockets filled with coins, keys, and other junk. One got stuck in the tire tread on my wife's truck when I installed new brakes and I found it still stuck there after backing out of our garage, down my asphalt driveway, down to the corner for a U-turn, and then back to the gravel and dirt driveway to park.  It's in my pocket now and still works fine.  The hard anodizing has been worn through in some spots and the body knurling is worn down so it's kinda smooth now, but it still works when I hit the button.

The Tool AA 2.0 is more of a flood than a thrower though it can still score a 127m throw rating under ANSI NEMA/FL-1, and that drawback is why I find myself carrying two different flashlights every day, this one for flood and something else for throw.  If this had a better throw, say out to 250m, I'd only carry this.

It'll run just fine on any AA-configured battery you care to put in it, Alkaline/Ni-Mh/Li-ion/Lithium/carbon zinc, seriously, if it's shaped like an AA, has terminals on opposite ends and has a voltage over 1 volt and under 5, this thing will run on it.  Best runtimes (60 hours on low) are achieved with Ni-Mh though, and the max lumens of 650 requires a high drain 14500 Li-ion battery.  Did I mention that it comes with a GITD slip-on diffuser?  Yeah, it'll still provide a little light from the diffuser after the battery goes dead.

This is a seriously well-built little light that is backed by a 5-year repair warranty that the company takes seriously.

Do you know how it compares to the Fenix E12? The first version is my favourite torch, but I loathe the V2.0. This looks kinda similar in both looks and specifications.

Can you cycle the modes without going into strobe?

I gave my brother the AAA version a few years ago and said that he's really liked having a keychain light.  At Christmas he'd mentioned that it was getting a bit worn out, so for his birthday this week, I sent him a new RovyVon Aurora A3 Pro (G4) (https://a.co/d/bPNYgF0).  Much brighter (the old Tool was only 130 lumen), but still about the same size.  Having a light on his keychain is okay, but he's not interested in anything larger that he'd have to carry separately.

I've got a tiny rechargeable Olight for my keychain. The AA is used around the house and garden.
The one we currently use isn't produced any more and I need to find a similar one so my husband stops stealing mine.
So it's not very durable if it was worn out or did he mean cosmetic damages?

I'm almost certain I responded to this when it was first posted but...  :smilie_confused_dontknow:

Yes, you can cycle through without going through strobe mode.  Strobe mode requires 6 fast half presses of the tail switch.  No idea about the Fenix as I've no experience with them.
