It's been a long time, a hard search in the internet wasteland, but I'm finally home!!!
So happy to find y'all, the original ZS was the cornerstone of my young adult life when it came to BSing on the web. I was busy when the original closed it's doors and missed the transition.
So thank you for taking me back!!
Currently I'm still in Alaska by way of Pennsylvania and Indiana. Working at a hospital. Married with a 1 year old daughter. Still love guns. Now drive a Ford Ranger Tremor, but still have Jeeps. I have a podcast I'm only a little active with. Trying to change careers again. Got a big moose this year.
I think that's the highlights.
LOL, hey I remember you. Welcome home.
Welcome home Jeeper!
Welcome to the new digs.
Cool, I remember you! Welcome back!
Welcome home! We left a light on for ya. :clownshoes:

Don't make us send the bunnies after you. You really won't like the bunnies.
:bunnies:
Hmmm Why did I think you were already here?

I thought so as well, but then I remembered I've taken a few blows to the head since UFoZS started and I may have been imagining things.
Either way, welcome back, JeeperCreeper. :smiley_clap:

I've been here this whole time... Just in your hearts, and in your minds.

Welcome back!
Hell yeah! Welcome back! And I see you can to the right side... dump those jeeps 😜
Congrats on the kiddo! Mine will be turning 1 next month! Crazy how life goes!
And congrats on the moose, I hope one day to get up there and get one.
Come moose hunting!
You still get Alaska Airlines perks??

I look at that moose and think, "I have no firearm capable of a one-shot kill on that without extreme precision." The closest I have is a 12 gauge pump with slugs, or a 7.62x51 NATO semi-auto. It'd laugh off any handgun I own.

I think about the only rifle I own that'd be enough to take down a moose would be my Mosin.
And even then it'd need a better shooter behind the trigger than me.
My wife says, "Nice moose. I don't recommend hunting them with cars. The cars always lose and the moose often just walks away." She also brags that she makes a mean moose meat spaghetti sauce. (She's a University of Alaska - Anchorage alumnus and lived her freshman year on moose meat and salmon that her neighbors and brother gave her.)

7.62x51 would do it with a good shot. They aren't as hard to kill as you'd think considering their lung zone is the size of a boogie board.
I used a 338 RCM. Shouldered then double lunged. I wouldn't be afraid of a really good bullet in a 308 for most moose. Granted, wouldn't be my first choice. As my uncle says: "nothing wrong with extra dead"

I'll have to get my old phone out and send you a pic of my freezer hahaha
There's some good eating up here! How long since your wife has been up here?

Late 80's I believe, I'll have to ask her next time I pass through the living room. She was also an exchange student in Finland in the 90s before finally graduating from the University of Oregon. She did some post-grad work at Georgetown and then got her masters from the Naval Post-Graduate School. Me, I',m just a lowly Brooklyn College alumnus.

Yeah, my 7.62x51 is strictly 147 grain NATO M80 ball. Not anything I'd use for moose. 12 gauge would likely do it, but I'd have to be a little up close and personal.

Good luck finding one for a decent price.
Mosins are going for stupidly high prices nowadays.
Last one I saw for sale in my AO had a price tag of 800 bucks on it. :eek1:

I'm trying to work a trade for one right now, that or an Enfield.
But I agree, price went up. I sell value them at no more than $300 so I gotta be picky.
I missed out on a m44 variant for $250 by 10 min last week
I remember you from the old days! So glad you're doing well!
