Title: German wired field phone.
Post by: Moab on February 02, 2023, 01:57:12 PM
There are probably better options. But the advantage to a field phone. On your bugout property is they are hardwired together. So no one can listen in. Like with a standard two way radio. They are cheap. And this place sells the wire too.

Again. Probably cheaper systems. I'd love to hear about secure comms on say a homestead or BOL?

I'm certified as an Emergency Services Comms Tech in Germany, meaning that I have exhaustive training in everything the FF-OB/ZB can do

I have three of them, and been meaning to make a comprehensive YouTube tutorial on everything there is to know for years, because of the distinctive lack of English material on this device.

Guess I'm too lazy. You guys interested in my notes?

No, people can listen in, it requires the right skill set and equipment. Making an assumption that nobody could ever listen in to your conversation is a common OPSEC failing.

True, but listening in to a low-power POTS line usually requires a direct tap with physical access, especially if you run a dedicated twisted pair (as opposed to a single wire +  relying on the ground loop for return).

At that point, you are thinking about a skilled targeted attack, as opposed to your former neighbors with shotguns and a 40 buck AliExpress radio scanner.

Normally I would be interested in something like this. But I don't see a point since it is a German field phone and I don't speak German  :slide:

"the German original has been translated into English"
Similar:

Ok I googled translate. Now what?  :slide: :slide:

Now you just have to get a 900 or better on your SAT [Sarcasm Aptitude Test] and you can enroll in FU to get your degree.  :greenguy:

I have access to four of these, but no experience with this kind of stuff. Learned pretty quick not to touch the contacts while turning the crank... Cool devices, and all four where still working thought one generator seemed a little weak. Would be fun if i could find any use for them.

Please post data on these. Also if anyone has the knowledge to wire in a pots system for local use that would make a great article.
