This was an experiment in creating a meal of food that did not require refrigeration and could be quickly made. Further experiments are now in order as this was just a proof of concept tasting test. Next come making the meal under field conditions.

My method of making this meal:

I fried the Spam in butter with garlic and onion powder added as well as black pepper.

The noodles were prepared per written instructions in a microwave, but butter was added to the noodles when the flavor packet was mixed in while the noodles were hot.

I wonder how it would taste with just water added and no cooking?
You know, PAW style. Or rainstorm so no fire style.

I was eating these same ones - but a different flavor - for months this past winter and spring. Teriyaki flavor. And added dried kroean vegetables from Amazon. They were really good. And the dried vegetables would be perfect for a bug out, bug in or whatever. Light weight to pack. And they added alot to the dried noodles. In terms of nutrition and taste. They were really good. They also sell a dried seafood mix. Which adds protein. But the one I tried didn't taste that great. Not awful. But there are many brands and varieties.

I highly recommend these. I tried alot of brands of dried noodles. These were by far my favorite.

Another trick was I was also eating steak fairly regularly. I would cut up tiny pieces of leftover steak and adding it to the noodles. They were excellent.

I also added a couple different Asian sauces. That really pumped up the flavor.

Most of the ,,pour over boiling water and let it sit" type of food or ready meals that require 5–10 minutes boiling time can be made if you just soak them in water for a long time. It doesn't work as well with flour based white sauce, but most noodle, rice and couscous dishes with tomato sauce are perfectly fine.
Look up cold soaking in long distance hiking, a lot of people do it.

Yes. Very common trail technique.
