Hi y'all. I wasn't sure where to post this so I put it here. Having endured two hurricanes over the years and losing power as a result, I wanted a backup source but didn't want to shell out for a gas guzzling gas generator. I decided to build my own battery powered, solar charged power box. It has 850wh, 70ah and a 100w solar panel. It cost me around 300 bucks to build including the solar panel. It weights about 60lbs so I got this cool little dolly with the spongy wheels that rolls over terrain really well. I learned a lot doing this build and this thing has sure come in handy.

We've had a few people on here build something similar.  Do you mind breaking down what the actual components are for your build and how you went about it all?  I'm still considering doing one, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.  So the more advice and builds I see, the better!

Yeah, we need a tear-down! What's (watts?) in the box?

There are a couple of other builds over on this bit of the board:

I can move your thread over there too if you want, just say the word.

Millzy

Sure. If you want to move it that would be cool with me. I have a short video showing it all the way around with the lights on and stuff. I can attach that when you move it. I will also put the parts list and other stuff I used.

It took me five weeks (sorry, life got in the way) but the thread is moved :)

But, it bumped this thread and put it on my radar.  Millzy, you say your setup weighs 60 lbs. Is that mostly the battery? What battery chemistry are you using?
