Scored a complete Alice pack for $65.

I can't tell the difference between a real one and a knock off from just pics. But either way its a good deal. I was just looking for frames for two of my family BOB's. And stumbled across this for $65. These pics are from the seller. I have not received it yet. What do you think? Look like a real one or a knock off?

So I paid via paypal goods and services. And now the guy is claiming shipping was so high he needs another $40. He says usps was $60 and ups was $116. He is offering a complete refund. But I'm obviously oretty disappointed.

Not sure how to handle this. It was not thru a site that I can get him banned from for backing out. I paid him with paypal directly.

I'm inclined to offer him an extra $20. But that's about it. Anymore and I'm inclined just to pass and take the refund. It is a $150 pack at least. It looks new. Could be civilian. But even civilian alice packs go for $150 now.

Tough to tell if it if that's legit Gubment issue or not, but does look to not be used much if at all.

Not to defend the seller, but I know shipping rates have skyrocketed the last few years.  I have a feeling shipping the two I have is going to be as much or possibly more than what I'm selling them for.

Once I ordered a surplus 120mm ammo can from Sportsman's Guide, I wanted to use it as a cache. But I only ordered one because I wasn't sure I could fit what I wanted into it. It was $29 plus ~$10 shipping IIRC. 40 bucks is ok.

Well I loved it. So went back to buy a couple more and they were sold out. No problem I'll just find it somewhere else. The only place I could find it wanted $49 + $60 shipping.

It depends on your discount with your carriers, and the distance. SG probably has a great discount with UPS. I work at a distribution center and we have a national account with UPS that gets us great rates that I can't come close to if I was shipping it on my personal account.

But something seems fishy. When I've gone skiing I ship all my stuff up in a box i'm sure is bigger and heaveir than that pack would fit in and it was only $30-$40 from Florida to New Jersey per box. [pre covid]

I tried that and his numbers check out. I offered to pay half of $60. And he's ok with that. So still getting a new alice comolete for $75. Not bad. He has had it listed for 2 months. So maybe rates jumped since then. Wish i would have oaid theu the app tho  then he'd be kind of stuck. Second time I've done that. Not paid with the app. Last time i lost a $2000 jeep hardtop for $500. Guess I haven't learned my lesson. But I didnt have $60 in my paypal that night. And disnt want to lose it. So I sent him $40 to hold it. And $25 the next day.

Oh well. $75 is still a killer deal.

Ya. Its the only reason I bought it. I was looking for used frames. Ill just get rid of my aftermarket black alice and reolace it with it.

It looks used enough and beat up some so I would guess it is new. If you open the box and it smells slightly like mildew, it is probably legit  . At this point,  I am not sure the seller is legit though...

a) its a large ALICE
b) it is almost certainly genuine; I also have a large ALICE bag from Happy Penguin Inc. 
c) most people don't ship frame packs often enough to guess prices; he could likely ship it much cheaper but it takes some digging.

I'll post pics later. I just got the alice pack delivered.

And I'll be damned! Its a large. And its nicer than any alice I was ever issured in the Marine Corps. Which isn't saying much. Lol. But its almost brand new. With the exception of some light wear on the frame buckles finish. Like minor minor. You can barely tell its ever been used.

The seller said he cleaned out a home of an old Marine. Or some old guy. And he had this pack and a bunch of uniforms.

I think this would have cost well over $150. As mediums used are going for $150.

Super happy with it. I can't believe it hadn't sold. The guy had it up for 2 months.

I ran it by 24 inch square for one pack. I think the actual box he used was oeobably like 24x24x13 maybe? 

Anyway. I ended up with a really cheap large alice pack. So I'm happy. I'll probably never use it. Lol. But its so nice and new. It will probably be worth alot more eventually. Its like super nice. Like i dont even want to get it dirty. Lol.

Like new. The waterproofing on the inside is degrading a bit. But thats normal. That stuff always sucked. And a melted cough drop in the radio pouch. You can barely see some dust and wear on the corners of the frame. But seriously minimal.

Looks good, I'm using flexiseal in a spray can to fix the waterproofing issues.
