But it needs to come up...

Was it just my imagination, or wasn't it back online for awhile after initial shutdown, and we were able to look old threads up for info?  I could have sworn it was, because I have a laundry list of topics I bookmarked and was reading through a few not to long ago.

It was for a little while, but went down and then came back up for a brief period (for like a day or two, I think) and then it went down and stayed down.

As far as I know, it's still down and likely will stay down for the foreseeable future. Certain folks wanted ZS dead for a long time and it would appear they finally got their wish.

It was, but not for very long.  If you have bookmarks, you might try pulling them on archive.org.

Yeah, it was back up for about three months....from around mid-August to mid-November.

I realize it's been a while since this thread was last replied to, but has there been any progress on trying to copy from Archive.org most of the old forum? I've made a few gentle attempts myself, but most of the forum is only archived a page or two deep.

I'm assuming nothing has been heard from the owners of the ZS forum, otherwise someone would have published an archive.

No, there hasn't been, and there probably won't be.  This is due to copyright restrictions.  ZS holds the full copyright for the old forums and, while I was the admin in charge of the old system, I'm not a member of the ZS board of directors, nor can I/we make use of the ZS name or logo.  Individual posts/threads can of course be copied over by their original authors; I doubt ZS would want to engage in a protracted legal battle over that which they'd likely lose, but there's no way we could publish more than that here.

It is my understanding that the previous PTB were embarrassed by the site and deleted the database for the forum. I have no way confirming that but that is what i was told by a 3rd party.

A good prep lesson actually : never assume the source will always be available.
Folks you are on your own...Plan and act accordingly!

I will never claim to have all the answers. Depending upon the subject; I am also aware that I may not have all the questions much less the answers. As a result I am always willing to listen to others and work with them to arrive at the right answers to the applicable questions.

Are you saying they deleted the internet archive file? Is that a thing you can do?

Checking now.
