BOB water filtration: "Everyone ends up with the Sawyer Squeeze"

Certainly of interest to anyone who dreams of hiking the Appalachian Trail.  But it's the author's fourth takeaway that caught my eye and made me think of UFOZS.

I was really proud of myself when I tucked the Sawyer Mini water filter into my backpack before leaving for Georgia. While I wasn't ultralight by any stretch of the imagination, I knew that I'd shaved one ounce off of my pack weight by opting for the smaller, slightly more compact Sawyer water filter. But after about a week of use, I grew jealous of my trail family members who finished their "camp chores" and filtered all of their water in half the time. They were minutes closer to eating dinner and conking out for the night because their filters were faster and less likely to clog. A month after going to bed later than everyone else, I finally switched to the Sawyer Squeeze and never looked back.

I wonder if the smaller squeeze has the same flow rate.

Why would anyone use anything but the squeeze?

I have both.  The trick for me here in Ak, is to keep the filter it from freezing,.


Normally, I just boil.  ON the move I use the filter + some chlorine dioxide tabs for faster processing.
