Anyone ever see instructions on how to fold a tarp over a box? Or dog crate? Or anything square or rectangle?

Kind of like all those instructions on folding a tarp into a tent or shelter?

When my dogs are outside they have crates full of fleece blankets to shelter in. They are way up under the patio roof. But it leaks in places. And sometimes the wind can blow rain. Not bad. But after a day of bad weather it can bring dampness into their crates and bedding.

There's that sale on tarps today for $7.99 10x10. Way bigger than what I need. But I thought I might be able to cover their crates with tarp. And maybe tie them up around the bottom with paracord or bungies. Making them rain proof. One crate is plastic and the other has a loose canvas cover over the entire thing. So they are protected. And it never gets that cold here.

But the plastic crate has vent holes. And the canvas cover on the other is fitted. But does not go all the way around the bottom. So wind blows thru it.

But it would be cool if I could fold it in such a way that it leaves a flap over the door. If not, no biggy. I can also just leave a larger section over the door to create like eves. Just would like to make it look and work as good as possible.

Think of the tarp as wrapping paper and the dog crate as a gift box. Wrap it like you would a Christmas present.

Christmas presents don't have open ends for animals to enter/exit though.  At least, none of the ones I ever got did.  :smiley_nah:

Still, you make a good point and I'll bet Moab still remembers how to make up a rack from boot camp.  He could do it that way.

Ya. I'll just futz with it. Maybe if I did it like a present with a shorter amount of material at the door end I can make it work.

10x10 I'll probably have to double it. But thats ok. For $7.99 it will work. Lol.

They stay dry. Its more just the dampness and wind I'm concerned with. But I bring them inside whenever it gets like that. They are inside/outside dogs. But frankly they are both shepards and very resistant to weather. They could give a sh*t. Lol. They lay down out in the back acre, on the dirt, in the rain.

There crates are about 4 inches off the ground. With solid plastic cupped trays in the bottom. But the patio floods an inch or so when it gets really bad. That happened twice this winter. So I'm going to elevate their beds as well.

Eventually I'm considering making two elevated crates out of blue 50 gallon plastic drums. My only concern is air circulation. It does get hot in the summer. But then again they are sleeping on the ground when that happens.

Thanks guys.
