You order something from Optics Planet ?

Because that's pretty close to their shipping estimates most times.

I don't have it in me to detail all the problems at all of the local retail food places I buy at. But it feels like a premonition of terrible things to come. I'm no tin hatter either. But so many shelves are bare. And so many items are no longer available. It makes me wonder how bad our financial situation is going to get.

One evening ALL THE EGG shelves were empty. Another day all the processed meat was gone. My favorite natural peanut butter. That is approved for WIC or EBT or whatever your state calls food stamps. Is gone. No longer available in any local Kroger stores. And its an old well established brand.

Selections on various items have become very limited. Alot of the shelves have row upon row of the same brand item. Just to fill up space. So its not empty.

Its really really weird.

My local Kroger has also stopped using as many humans. By converting another 3 checkstands to self checkout. And routinely limit employee hours to one check stand. Or two or three with a line of twenty people on each one.

And the employees all are new. And most look and act like they are on parole. (Nothing wrong with parole. And getting your life back on track.) But most of these people don't have people skills. And rarely sound like they made it out of 5th grade. And are not people you'd want to disagree with. Or even get into a conversation with. Let alone ask for help. One of them carries around a radio with a speaker playing music - outloud! Ya. Like a boombox. Except its a radio attached to their belt loop playing music loud enough that everyone can hear it.

Across the freeway in the hood its even worse. Corporations do not fund businesses in the hood. They do not care. Prices may be cheaper. But you won't find anyone to help you. And you'll wait in a deep line to pay for your items. And the quality of fresh foods is terrible.

Anyway. Good thing I didnt go on a diatribe huh?!!! Lmao!

Nah, that's the reward you get from NT2C if you reach 5000 posts or sponsor 25 new members.  It used to be a gasoline-powered crockpot, but we switched to this prize instead.  More practical because it actually does deflect the gubmint subliminal gamma rays coming out of your cellphone - the ones that try to convince you the world isn't flat.  :smiley_crocodile:

I  hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

In the for-what's-its-worth column...

We shop at a military Commissary.   There are and have been empty shelves for over the last two years.  We check the best by dates on everything - as they tend to shelve items at are at or past their best buy dates.  This is nothing new - the empty shelves are not.

While an item - say potato soup - may be in stock, that stock may well be a single brand.   With cans lined up along an otherwise empty shelving unit.

We have been carefully adding to our deep pantry.  The LTS sis more than good for us and the family still living here in town.

This, being an Election year - is bound to be full of very ugly surprises.

I'd much rather be a disappointed pessimist than a horrified optimist....

Sorry guys - closed my Amazon account and am out of the fiction biz.
