Okay. Thanks. Good.

ummm, should I do something? Do I need to protect my computer? And my other digitals? If yes, how/what? When?

Teach you to post something scary. I'll panic and ask you 150 questions.

Folks you are on your own...Plan and act accordingly!

I will never claim to have all the answers. Depending upon the subject; I am also aware that I may not have all the questions much less the answers. As a result I am always willing to listen to others and work with them to arrive at the right answers to the applicable questions.

This was posted in the wrong thread. Sorry consider it a non-sequitor.

A video of the allision. You can see the lights on the ship go dark twice. You can also see some really lucky person cross immediately before the allision.

Yes due to the solar storm I was late getting my  coffee. :smiley_coffee:
This lead to the mispost.
A chain of events cascading to the present post.

Solar storms are tricky that way.

Just wanted to amplify this.  Your electronics should be plugged into a surge protector.

My favorites are:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J2EN4S/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00966IFQ0/
Both of these models have proved their worth, one successfully protecting from a fire and one protected my computer from a surge when another computer plugged directly into a wall receptacle got fried.  I have a lot of trust for these.

I also use these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JE9LD4/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0919MB47N/

All of these come with a guarantee that covers your devices to a certain amount should the surge protector fail to perform and you lose equipment.  Always choose one from a trusted brand that offers to cover lost equipment in case of failure.  I've never had to request payment on that guarantee.  Everything in my house is plugged in to one of these surge protectors save for a single nightlight.
Feed science, not zombies!

Failure is the path of least persistence.

Great post thank you! These are excellent examples of a quality surge suppressor.

One thing to remember about surge suppressor is that after an event the protection elements can get fried and stop protecting the equipment. Some surge suppressors indicate this with a light (like these) others will stop functioning altogether and immediately and permanently turn off the power (this is preferable for very expensive gear since it protects your equipment if there are multiple surges within an event) and others give no warning at all.

Obviously cost is always important. However you need to weigh the cost/capability ratio to the cost and importance of the equipment being protected.

So do read the specs and chose accordingly. I have seen garbage selling at about the same cost as quality suppressors.
