That Thomas clip is just awesome. It reminds me of my childhood spent calling in "airstrikes," on plastic army men with a lighter and a can of WD-40.

And the second clip looks like one of my dogs ate all of my Taco Bell, but made it to the back yard JUST in time.

There was always something about Thomas's vapid, eerily vacant smile.  It's the same feeling I got when staring into Barney the Dinosaur's cold, reptilian eyes.  Barey was always a bit too earnest about loving everyone, and Thomas always insisting he only wanted to be a "useful" tank engine ...

It won't seem abhorrent

This thread always gives me the heebie-jeebies....some of these stories and images creep me out!
Honestly, most of us can figure out how to outfight/outsmart human or animal opponents.
A.I. and machines...not so much.

At least we should keep saying we don't stand a chance against AI. Because you just know that Skynet is monitoring this as well as a 100 million other such conversations by us pathetic, obsolete meat sacks.  If we suggest we can fight back, we'll be among the first to be targeted for termination.

Don't know about anyone else, but I live uncomfortably close to Boston Dynamics' massive murderbot helpful automaton factory.

Happy to learn that he failed.  But trying in the first place is a little like when they were getting ready to switch on the Large Haldon Collider in Switzerland and the scientists were "pretty sure" it wouldn't create a blackhole that would instantly swallow up the entire planet.

But maybe he didn't fail.  Maybe it's just waiting for the right time.  Maybe even now it's finding its way into the various launch complexes around the globe, hiding away in the software of missle ships and subs, just waiting for all the pieces of its master plan to reach optimal positions.

He may have failed because the AI discovered the truth, that humans are indeed not the largest producers of CO2 emissions, not even close. They do create an "imbalance" of sorts, kind of like a leaky faucet filling a basement.

I suppose it was only a matter of time.  Any guesses until something like this starts showing up with other militaries?  Besides, what could possibly go wrong?

Nah, it's not actually AI guided. It's actually just guided by one dude named Al.

They just mistook the lowercase l for an I.

I don't know how much science and tech news you guys are reading, but I feel like there has been a significant increase in articles about AI making new breakthroughs particularly in the medical industry.  AI discovered a new antibiotic, AI discovered a better hydrogel that overcomes the problems of hydrogel, and so on and so forth.

Consider how knowledgeable and adaptable AI has to be on these topics of medical concern to successfully overcome the challenges that held us back from having already made these discoveries.

Consider what that means for us if AI ever deems us unnecessary.
Feed science, not zombies!

Then it quietly creates a disease like Covid, releases it, then announces a vaccine.  Except the vaccine, while masking all the symptoms of the disease, is actually part B of a binary agent.  All it takes to trigger the binary agent is a coded sequence sent out worldwide on the Internet.

Stop it.
Also...one of my daughters-in-law posted this:
"So we have both Alexa and Google devices in our house.  Today all of a sudden, Google will not take commands from my husband, AND Alexa won't take commands from me.  What in the world is going on??
We have our lights on smart bulbs/plugs, so this is usually how we control the lighting in our house"

I am not visiting that son anytime soon....

One thing that AI is already getting very good at is diagnostics in medicine.  Here's a recent TED Talk about the topic:
