Himalayan salt won't go bad like new salt.  It's proven the test of time.  It has mystic properties and make sherpas so bad ass!

What's in the DeWalt case?  I would assume chainsaw, but it doesn't quite look like a chainsaw case.  I could be wrong.

It occurs to me that I no longer have a strap to secure my glasses since I don't do activities that would require it.  I should keep something like that in the go bag.

Sorry, you're all wrong. It's a radio. You know, it may be the apocalypse, but there's no way the fans are gonna miss All Things Considered. 

Mixed feelings here. The article is sort of helpful, but the picture kind of screams, "Buy a bunch of stuff in cans. And water. Gotta have water. Check." 

Silver lining? I think it's good to "normalize" prepping. Ever notice how same people who bust your chops (good natured, or otherwise) for carrying a multi tool are always the same people who turn to you when they need a bottle opener?  

Some of them will always keep asking for a bottle opener, but if one of them decides to buy one themselves, I think that's a good thing.

The Detroit Free Press just had a really good article titled "Detroit emergency planners see Maui wildfire lesson: Waiting on instructions can be deadly."  It made some really good points and I was going to share it on here, only to have them switch it from being publicly available to putting it behind their subscriber firewall.

Related to the picture, if you don't drink coconut milk already, don't include it.  I generally try not to have anything in my stores that I don't generally consume because the last thing you want in an emergency is an upset stomach or diarrhea brought on by something your body isn't used to and decided it didn't want. 

Tummy Drops or similar ginger candy are good to have in your kit for upset stomach.

I'm testing out a new 'to me' type. My glasses and sunglasses either slide down my nose or fall off if I lean forward working on stuff. especially if i'm sweating or moving fast. very annoying.

So I got these which seem to be working fine for my needs. Pretty good and comfortable for a Dollar a piece. And keep glasses exactly where they are supposed to be with the quick adjust strap.

I've tried other kinds but they are for retention only [keeping them from falling totally off] but don't keep them from just sliding out of place.

I'm keeping them permanently on my Sunglasses, and keep a spare set in my EDC for my regular glasses. I only have an issue with my regular glasses if I'm repairing something in my garage and its darker in there so I'm not wearing sunglasses but am usually leaning over and sweating. So I can just pop them on and off as needed.

Waited for services that that were months away. Medical staff gave up hope and let their patients die or euthanized them. Many police ran away and abandoned their posts. Help was slow in coming and for many never arrived at all.

It's like a broken record.  Katrina was not only a glaring example, it wasn't even the most recent.  Too many people aren't paying attention, forget too easily, or just simply think it can't happen to them.

It can and the probability that it will seems to be on the rise.

I keep salt rock lamps on hand for just such an urgent emergency. Sure there may dirt on the outside from sitting in my bedroom but scrape that off and you have pink salty goodness underneath. While you are waiting on your free FEMA salt I will be making ice cream.
