Is there anyway to download a forum for offline use? Manual copying of information would seem to take forever. Was just wondering to myself how valuable it would be to have this forum available in a disaster offline.

I have over 6gbs of prepping and survival data. But it is nowhere near as organized as a forum.

Just curious. I've never thought about this.

Yes and no.

Yes, it can be done, we do it every night when we make multiple backups of the system, but no in the sense that you'd then need a server to run it on and it would compromise site security to give out such backups.

You can use your browser's print function to "print" pages you like to pdf.  If your device does not already have a print to pdf option when you print, check out this How to Geek guide.

And if there are multiple pages, print them to separate pdf files.  Then you just need to go to one of the free websites that let you merge them together into one.

Ya. That would take forever. Lol. Was just curious if it was available in one shot. Like just a searchable text file even.

It still kills me how much information was lost to zs closing down.

For a few threads it's doable.  If you're talking about the whole forum, then no.  This is the way that I grabbed the old "Bugout to Walmart - NO" thread on ZS.  It ended up being 55 "pages" of downloads which had to be merged together.  Because of limitations on those pdf merging sites, I had to go through several rounds of merging them 10 files at a time, then merging those files.

https://www.httrack.com/ might work. Otherwise possibly Wget, but that is script territory and I am not good at that.

I've used Foxit pdf for over a decade. The pro version will merge multiple pdfs. I'm not not sure if there are limits tho. I usually use one of the free ones.

The problem with prepper/survival files is there is SO MUCH OUT THERE. You could dedicate several weeks of searching, downloading and vetting. I found a good 6gb file online. That you could download at once. I set it up on a free download site. And posted it to zs. But I have long forgotten the link. Or if its even still up.

I also seem to recall dvds you could buy on ebay. But I thought those got taken down.

The guy with the 6gb file had spent a HUGE amount of time not just compiling the 6gb file. But he also linked to each individual file. And even to cull thru those was a multi day process. He also was soending some money on bandwidth.

I try to keep mine on my phone. But that added with copies of important docs, survival apps etc etc. Takes up alot if space on my micro sd card.

Which makes me want to try a thumbdrive with a usb c adapter. I do have my last phone that I use as a standalone device. But it does not work for cell (thus why I replaced it). Only wifi. But it does have replaceable batteries. So I have 6 batteries and an external charger for it.
